“Krishna continued,–‘hearing these words of the king, the Rakshasa womananswered–Blessed be thou, O king of kings. Capable of assuming any format will. I am a Rakshasa woman called Jara. I am living, O king, happilyin thy house, worshipped by all.
परमसुख अपने परिवार के साथ सुख से रहता था| उसकी तीन लड़कियाँ थी| एक दिन उसका अकास्मिक निधन हो गया|
एक गरीब ब्राह्मण था| उसको अपनी कन्या का विवाह करना था| उसने विचार किया कि कथा करने से कुछ पैसा आ जायगा तो काम चल जायगा| ऐसा विचार करके उसने भगवान् राम के एक मन्दिर में बैठकर कथा आरम्भ कर दी| उसका भाव यह था कि कोई श्रोता आये, चाहे न आये, पर भगवान तो मेरी कथा सुनेंगे ही!

किसी वन में चण्डरव नामक एक सियार रहता था| एक दिन वह भूख से व्याकुल भटकता हुआ लोभ के कारण समीप के नगर में पहुंच गया| उसको देखते ही नगरवासी कुत्ते उसके पीछे पड़ गए|
