The Inevitable Reality -, What is the Inevitable Reality?, And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? , Thamud and ‘Aad denied the Striking Calamity…

69.1

‘lḥa’ʔq:atu

The Inevitable Reality -

69.2

ma’ ‘lḥa’ʔq:atu

What is the Inevitable Reality?

69.3

wama’ʔ ‘ʔadray’ka ma’ ‘lḥa’ʔq:atu

And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?

69.4

kað:abat θamuwdu waʕa’dunm bi’lqa’riʕati

Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.

69.5

fa’ʔam:a’ èamuwdu fa’ʔuhlikuw’ bi’lṭ:a’ɣiyati

So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].

69.6

wa’ʔam:a’ ʕa’dunm fa’ʔuhlikuw’ biriyḥinm ṣarṣarin ʕa’tiyatinm

And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming,
violent wind

69.7

sax:araha’ ʕalayhim sabʕa laya’linm waèamaniyata ‘ʔay:a’min ḥusuwmanm’ fataray ‘lqawma fiyha’ ṣarʕay’ ka’ʔan:ahum ‘ʔaʕja’zu naxlin xa’wiyatinm

Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight
days in succession, so you would see the people therein
fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.

69.8

fahal taray’ lahum m:inm ba’qiyatinm

Then do you see of them any remains?

69.9

waja’ʔʔa firʕawnu waman qablahuw wa’lmuwʔtafikatu bi’lxa’ṭiyʔati

And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the
overturned cities with sin.

69.10

faʕaṣaw’ rasuwla rab:ihim fa’ʔaxaًahum ‘ʔaxًatanm r:a’biyatan

And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so
He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].

69.11

‘ʔin:a’ lam:a’ ṭaɣa’ ‘lma’ʔʔu ḥamalnakum fiy ‘lja’riyati

Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your
ancestors in the sailing ship

69.12

linajʕalaha’ lakum taًkiratanm wataʕiyaha’ʔ ‘ʔuًununm waʕiyatunm

That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a
conscious ear would be conscious of it.

69.13

fa’ʔiًa’ nufixa fiy ‘lṣ:uwri nafxatunm waḥidatunm

Then when the Horn is blown with one blast

69.14

waḥumilati ‘l’ʔarḍu wa’ljiba’lu faduk:ata’ dak:atanm waḥidatanm

And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with
one blow -

69.15

fayawmayʔiًinm waqaʕati ‘lwa’qiʕatu

Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur,

69.16

wa’nʃaq:ati ‘ls:ama’ʔʔu fahiya yawmayʔiًinm wa’hiyatunm

And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.

69.17

wa’lmalaku ʕalay’ʔ ‘ʔarja’ʔyʔiha’ j wayaḥmilu ʕarʃa rab:ika fawqahum yawmayʔiًinm èamaniyatunm

And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the
Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].

69.18

yawmayʔiًinm tuʕraḍuwna la’ taxfay’ minkum xa’fiyatunm

That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not
hidden among you is anything concealed.

69.19

fa’ʔam:a’ man ‘ʔuwtiya kitabahuw biyamiynihiy fayaquwlu ha’ʔwʔumu ‘qraʔuw’ kitabiyah

So as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
he will say, "Here, read my record!

69.20

‘ʔin:iy ẓanantu ‘ʔan:iy mulaqin ḥisa’biyah

Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."

69.21

fahuwa fiy ʕiyʃatinm r:a’ḍiyatinm

So he will be in a pleasant life -

69.22

fiy jan:atin ʕa’liyatinm

In an elevated garden,

69.23

quṭuwfuha’ da’niyatunm

Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.

69.24

kuluw’ wa’ʃrabuw’ haniyʔʔanm’ bima’ʔ ‘ʔaslaftum fiy ‘l’ʔay:a’mi ‘lxa’liyati

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what
you put forth in the days past."

69.25

‎ wa’ʔam:a’ man ‘ʔuwtiya kitabahuw biʃima’lihiy fayaquwlu yalaytaniy lam ‘ʔuwta kitabiyah

But as for he who is given his record in his left hand,
he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record

69.26

walam ‘ʔadri ma’ ḥisa’biyah

And had not known what is my account.

69.27

yalaytaha’ ka’nati ‘lqa’ḍiyata

I wish my death had been the decisive one.

69.28

ma’ʔ ‘ʔaɣnay’ ʕan:iy ma’liyahs

My wealth has not availed me.

69.29

halaka ʕan:iy sulṭaniyah

Gone from me is my authority."

69.30

xuًuwhu faɣul:uwhu

[ Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him.

69.31

èum:a ‘ljaḥiyma ṣal:uwhu

Then into Hellfire drive him.

69.32

èum:a fiy silsilatinm ًarʕuha’ sabʕuwna ًira’ʕanm’ fa’slukuwhu

Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."

69.33

‘ʔin:ahuw ka’na la’ yuwʔminu bi’ll:ahi ‘lʕaẓiymi

Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah , the Most Great,

69.34

wala’ yaḥuḍ:u ʕalay’ ṭaʕa’mi ‘lmiskiyni

Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.

69.35

falaysa lahu ‘lyawma hahuna’ ḥamiymunm

So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend

69.36

wala’ ṭaʕa’mun ‘ʔil:a’ min ɣisliyninm

Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;

69.37

l:a’ ya’ʔkuluhuwʔ ‘ʔil:a’ ‘lxaṭiʔuwna

None will eat it except the sinners.

69.38

fala’ʔ ‘ʔuqsimu bima’ tubṣiruwna

So I swear by what you see

69.39

wama’ la’ tubṣiruwna

And what you do not see

69.40

‘ʔin:ahuw laqawlu rasuwlinm kariyminm

[That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.

69.41

wama’ huwa biqawli ʃa’ʕirinm j qaliylanm’ m:a’ tuwʔminuwna

And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.

69.42

wala’ biqawli ka’hininm j qaliylanm’ m:a’ taًak:aruwna

Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.

69.43

tanziylunm m:in r:ab:i ‘lʕalamiyna

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

69.44

walaw taqaw:ala ʕalayna’ baʕḍa ‘l’ʔaqa’wiyli

And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false]
sayings,

69.45

la’ʔaxaًna’ minhu bi’lyamiyni

We would have seized him by the right hand;

69.46

èum:a laqaṭaʕna’ minhu ‘lwatiyna

Then We would have cut from him the aorta.

69.47

fama’ minkum m:in ‘ʔaḥadin ʕanhu ḥajiziyna

And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.

69.48

wa’ʔin:ahuw lataًkiratunm l:ilmut:aqiyna

And indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous.

69.49

wa’ʔin:a’ lanaʕlamu ‘ʔan:a minkum m:ukaً:ibiyna

And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.

69.50

wa’ʔin:ahuw laḥasratun ʕalay ‘lkafiriyna

And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the
disbelievers.

69.51

wa’ʔin:ahuw laḥaq:u ‘lyaqiyni

And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.

69.52

fasab:iḥ bi’smi rab:ika ‘lʕaẓiymi

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
