105. Al-Fil (1 to 5)
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your
Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?…
1 أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَبِ ٱلْفِيلِ
‘ʔalam tara kayfa faʕala rab:uka bi’ʔaṣḥabi ‘lfiyli
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
2 أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِى تَضْلِيلٍۢ
‘ʔalam yajʕal kaydahum fiy taḍliylinm
Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
3 وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْرًا أَبَابِيلَ
wa’ʔarsala ʕalayhim ṭayran’ ‘ʔaba’biyla
And He sent against them birds in flocks,
4 تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٍۢ مِّن سِجِّيلٍۢ
tarmiyhim biḥija’ratinm m:in sij:iylinm
Striking them with stones of hard clay,
5 فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٍۢ مَّأْكُولٍۭ
fajaʕalahum kaʕaṣfinm m:a’ʔkuwlinm
And He made them like eaten straw.
