100. Al-Adiyat (1 to 11)
By the racers, panting, And the producers of sparks [when] striking, And the chargers at dawn, Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,…
1 وَٱلْعَدِيَتِ ضَبْحًۭا
wa’lʕadiyati ḍabḥanm’
By the racers, panting,
2 فَٱلْمُورِيَتِ قَدْحًۭا
fa’lmuwriyati qadḥanm’
And the producers of sparks [when] striking
3 فَٱلْمُغِيرَتِ صُبْحًۭا
fa’lmuɣiyrati ṣubḥanm’
And the chargers at dawn,
4 فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِۦ نَقْعًۭا
fa’ʔaèarna bihiy naqʕanm’
Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
5 فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِۦ جَمْعًا
fawasaṭna bihiy jamʕan’
Arriving thereby in the center collectively,
6 إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَنَ لِرَبِّهِۦ لَكَنُودٌۭ
‘ʔin:a ‘l’ʔinsana lirab:ihiy lakanuwdunm
Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
7 وَإِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ ذَلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌۭ
wa’ʔin:ahuw ʕalay’ ًalika laʃahiydunm
And indeed, he is to that a witness.
8 وَإِنَّهُۥ لِحُبِّ ٱلْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ
wa’ʔin:ahuw liḥub:i ‘lxayri laʃadiydun
And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
9 أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِى ٱلْقُبُورِ
‘ʔafala’ yaʕlamu ‘ʔiًa’ buʕèira ma’ fiy ‘lqubuwri
But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
10 وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِى ٱلصُّدُورِ
waḥuṣ:ila ma’ fiy ‘lṣ:uduwri
And that within the breasts is obtained,
11 إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍۢ لَّخَبِيرٌۢ
‘ʔin:a rab:ahum bihim yawmayʔiًinm l:axabiyrunm
Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Acquainted.
