पीपल का वृक्ष पवित्र, अश्वत्थ, ज्ञान देने वाला, शुद्ध वायु प्रदाता तथा गुणों की खान माना गया है| कहते हैं कि एक गमले में पीपल का छोटा पौधा (वृक्ष) लगाकर बैठक में रखने से ऑक्सीजन के सिलेण्डर की जरूरत नहीं पड़ती|

भूमिका:
जो भक्ति करता है वह उत्तम पदवी, मोक्ष तथा प्रसिद्धि प्राप्त करता है| यह सब भगवान की लीला है| सतियुग में एक ऐसे ही भक्त हुए हैं जिनका नाम ध्रुव था|
एक बार की बात है कि एक मधुमक्खी किसी सरोवर के ऊपर से उड़ती हुई जा रही थी कि एकाएक ही उस सरोवर में गिर पड़ी| उसके पँख भीग चुके थे| अब वह उड़ने में असमर्थ थी| इस तरह उसकी मृत्यु अवश्य संभावी थी|
