84. Al-Inshiqaq (1 to 25)
When the sky has split [open], And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so], And when the earth has been extended…
‘ʔiða’ ‘ls:ama’ʔʔu ‘nʃaq:at
When the sky has split [open]
wa’ʔaðinat lirab:iha’ waḥuq:at
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]
wa’ʔiða’ ‘l’ʔarḍu mud:at
And when the earth has been extended
wa’ʔalqat ma’ fiyha’ wataxal:at
And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]
wa’ʔaðinat lirab:iha’ waḥuq:at
And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -
yaʔ’ʔay:uha’ ‘l’ʔinsanu ‘ʔin:aka ka’diḥun ‘ʔilay’ rab:ika kadḥanm’ famulaqiyhi
O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.
fa’ʔam:a’ man ‘ʔuwtiya kitabahuw biyamiynihiy
Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,
fasawfa yuḥa’sabu ḥisa’banm’ yasiyranm’
He will be judged with an easy account
wayanqalibu ‘ʔilay’ʔ ‘ʔahlihiy masruwranm’
And return to his people in happiness.
wa’ʔam:a’ man ‘ʔuwtiya kitabahuw wara’ʔʔa ẓahrihiy
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
fasawfa yadʕuw’ èubuwranm’
He will cry out for destruction
wayaṣlay’ saʕiyran’
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
‘ʔin:ahuw ka’na fiyʔ ‘ʔahlihiy masruwran’
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
‘ʔin:ahuw ẓan:a ‘ʔan l:an yaḥuwra
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah ].
balay’ʔ ‘ʔin:a rab:ahuw ka’na bihiy baṣiyranm’
But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.
fala’ʔ ‘ʔuqsimu bi’lʃ:afaqi
So I swear by the twilight glow
wa’l:ayli wama’ wasaqa
And [by] the night and what it envelops
wa’lqamari ‘ʔiًa’ ‘t:asaqa
And [by] the moon when it becomes full
latarkabun:a ṭabaqan’ ʕan ṭabaqinm
[That] you will surely experience state after state.
fama’ lahum la’ yuwʔminuwna
So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,
wa’ʔiًa’ quriyʔa ʕalayhimu ‘lqurʔa’nu la’ yasjuduwna
And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah ]?
bali ‘l:aًiyna kafaruw’ yukaً:ibuwna
But those who have disbelieved deny,
wa’ll:ahu ‘ʔaʕlamu bima’ yuwʕuwna
And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.
fabaʃ:irhum biʕaًa’bin ‘ʔaliymin
So give them tidings of a painful punishment,
‘ʔil:a’ ‘l:aًiyna ʔa’manuw’ waʕamiluw’ ‘lṣ:aliḥati lahum ‘ʔajrun ɣayru mamnuwninm
Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
