111. Al-Masad (1 to 5)

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he., His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained., He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame…

111.1

1 ‏تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍۢ وَتَبَّ ‎
tab:at yada’ʔ ‘ʔabiy lahabinm watab:a

May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.

111.2

2 ‏مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ ‎
ma’ʔ ‘ʔaɣnay’ ʕanhu ma’luhuw wama’ kasaba

His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.

111.3

3 ‏سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًۭا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍۢ ‎
sayaṣlay’ na’ranm’ ða’ta lahabinm

He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame

111.4

4 ‏وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ ‎
wa’mra’ʔatuhuw ḥam:a’lata ‘lḥaṭabi

And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.

111.5

5 ‏فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌۭ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ ‎
fiy jiydiha’ ḥablunm m:in m:asadinm

Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.
