34b. Saba (51 to 54)
Couldst thou but see when they are terrified with no
escape , and are seized from near at hand …
وَلَوْ تَرَىٰ إِذْ فَزِعُوا فَلَا فَوْتَ وَأُخِذُوا مِن مَّكَانٍ قَرِيبٍ (51)
Walaw tara ith faziAAoo fala fawta waokhithoo min makanin qareebin
Couldst thou but see when they are terrified with no escape , and are seized from near at hand .
وَقَالُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ التَّنَاوُشُ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ (52)
Waqaloo amanna bihi waanna lahumu alttanawushu min makanin baAAeedin
And say : We ( now ) believe therein . But how can they reach ( faith ) from afar off ,
وَقَدْ كَفَرُوا بِهِ مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَيَقْذِفُونَ بِالْغَيْبِ مِن مَّكَانٍ بَعِيدٍ (53)
Waqad kafaroo bihi min qablu wayaqthifoona bialghaybi min makanin baAAeedin
When they disbelieved in it of yore . They aim at the unseen from afar off .
وَحِيلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَ مَا يَشْتَهُونَ كَمَا فُعِلَ بِأَشْيَاعِهِم مِّن قَبْلُ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا فِي شَكٍّ مُّرِيبٍ (54)
Waheela baynahum wabayna ma yashtahoona kama fuAAila biashyaAAihim min qablu innahum kanoo fee shakkin mureebin
And a gulf is set between them and that which they desire , as was done for people of their kind of old . Lo! they were in hopeless doubt .
