26d. Ash-Shuara (151 to 200)
And obey not the command of the prodigal , Who spread corruption in the earth , and reform not ., They said : Thou art but one of the bewitched ;, Thou art but a mortal like us . So bring some token if thou …
وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ (151)
Wala tuteeAAoo amra almusrifeena
And obey not the command of the prodigal ,
الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ (152)
Allatheena yufsidoona fee alardi wala yuslihoona
Who spread corruption in the earth , and reform not .
قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ (153)
Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena
They said : Thou art but one of the bewitched ;
مَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ (154)
Ma anta illa basharun mithluna fati biayatin in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Thou art but a mortal like us . So bring some token if thou art of the truthful .
قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ (155)
Qala hathihi naqatun laha shirbun walakum shirbu yawmin maAAloomin
He said : ( Behold ) this she camel . She hath the right to drink ( at the well ) , and ye have the right to drink , ( each ) on an appointed day .
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (156)
Wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabu yawmin AAatheemin
And touch her not with ill lest there come on you the retribution of an awful day .
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ (157)
FaAAaqarooha faasbahoo nadimeena
But they hamstrung her , and then were penitent .
فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (158)
Faakhathahumu alAAathabu inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena
So the retribution came on them . Lo! herein is indeed a portent , yet most of them are not believers .
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (159)
Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty , the Merciful .
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ (160)
Kaththabat qawmu lootin almursaleena
The folk of Lot denied the messengers ( of Allah ) ,
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ (161)
Ith qala lahum akhoohum lootun ala tattaqoona
When their brother Lot said unto them : Will ye not ward off ( evil ) ?
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ (162)
Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun
Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you ,
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ (163)
Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni
So keep your duty to Allah and obey me .
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (164)
Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena
And I ask of you no wage therefor ; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds .
أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ (165)
Atatoona alththukrana mina alAAalameena
What! Of all creatures do ye come unto the males ,
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَاجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ (166)
Watatharoona ma khalaqa lakum rabbukum min azwajikum bal antum qawmun AAadoona
And leave the wives your Lord created for you? Nay , but ye are froward folk .
قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ (167)
Qaloo lain lam tantahi ya lootu latakoonanna mina almukhrajeena
They said : If thou cease not , O Lot , thou wilt soon be of the outcast .
قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ (168)
Qala innee liAAamalikum mina alqaleena
He said : I am in truth of those who hate your conduct .
رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ (169)
Rabbi najjinee waahlee mimma yaAAmaloona
My Lord! Save me and my household from what they do .
فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ (170)
Fanajjaynahu waahlahu ajmaAAeena
So We saved him and his household , every one ,
إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ (171)
Illa AAajoozan fee alghabireena
Save an old woman among those who stayed behind .
ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ (172)
Thumma dammarna alakhareena
Then afterward We destroyed the others .
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ (173)
Waamtarna AAalayhim mataran fasaa mataru almunthareena
And We rained on them a rain . And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned .
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (174)
Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena
Lo! herein is indeed a portent , yet most of them are not believers .
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (175)
Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
And lo! thy Lord , He is indeed the Mighty , the Merciful .
كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ (176)
Kaththaba ashabu alaykati almursaleena
The dwellers in the wood ( of Midian ) denied the messengers ( of Allah ) ,
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ (177)
Ith qala lahum shuAAaybun ala tattaqoona
When Shueyb said unto them : Will ye not ward off ( evil ) ?
إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ (178)
Innee lakum rasoolun ameenun
Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you ,
فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ (179)
Faittaqoo Allaha waateeAAooni
So keep your duty to Allah and obey me .
وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (180)
Wama asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin in ajriya illa AAala rabbi alAAalameena
And I ask of you no wage for it ; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds .
۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ (181)
Awfoo alkayla wala takoonoo mina almukhsireena
Give full measure , and be not of those who give less ( than the due ) .
وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ (182)
Wazinoo bialqistasi almustaqeemi
And weigh with the true balance .
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ (183)
Wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena
Wring not mankind in their goods , and do not evil , making mischief , in the earth .
وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ (184)
Waittaqoo allathee khalaqakum waaljibillata alawwaleena
And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old .
قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ (185)
Qaloo innama anta mina almusahhareena
They said : Thou art but one of the bewitched ;
وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ (186)
Wama anta illa basharun mithluna wain nathunnuka lamina alkathibeena
Thou art but a mortal like us , and lo! we deem thee of the liars .
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ (187)
Faasqit AAalayna kisafan mina alssamai in kunta mina alssadiqeena
Then make fragments of the heaven fall upon us , if thou art of the truthful .
قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ (188)
Qala rabbee aAAlamu bima taAAmaloona
He said : My Lord is best aware of what ye do .
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (189)
Fakaththaboohu faakhathahum AAathabu yawmi alththullati innahu kana AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
But they denied him , so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom . Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day .
إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (190)
Inna fee thalika laayatan wama kana aktharuhum mumineena
Lo! herein is indeed a portent ; yet most of them are not believers .
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ (191)
Wainna rabbaka lahuwa alAAazeezu alrraheemu
And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty , the Merciful .
وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (192)
Wainnahu latanzeelu rabbi alAAalameena
And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds ,
نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ (193)
Nazala bihi alrroohu alameenu
Which the True Spirit hath brought down
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ (194)
AAala qalbika litakoona mina almunthireena
Upon thy heart , that thou mayest be ( one ) of the warners ,
بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُّبِينٍ (195)
Bilisanin AAarabiyyin mubeenin
In plain Arabic speech .
وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ (196)
Wainnahu lafee zuburi alawwaleena
And lo , it is in the Scriptures of the men of old .
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ آيَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ (197)
Awalam yakun lahum ayatan an yaAAlamahu AAulamao banee israeela
Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it?
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ (198)
Walaw nazzalnahu AAala baAAdi alaAAjameena
And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs ,
فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ (199)
Faqaraahu AAalayhim ma kanoo bihi mumineena
And he had read it unto them , they would not have believed in it .
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ (200)
Kathalika salaknahu fee quloobi almujrimeena
Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty .
