Hameem
Ha . Mim .
وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ (2)
Waalkitabi almubeeni
By the Scripture which maketh plain ,
إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ (3)
Inna jaAAalnahu quranan AAarabiyyan laAAallakum taAAqiloona
Lo! We have appointed it a Lecture in Arabic that haply ye may understand .
وَإِنَّهُ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ لَدَيْنَا لَعَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ (4)
Wainnahu fee ommi alkitabi ladayna laAAaliyyun hakeemun
And lo! in the Source of Decrees , which We possess , it is indeed sublime , decisive ,
أَفَنَضْرِبُ عَنكُمُ الذِّكْرَ صَفْحًا أَن كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا مُّسْرِفِينَ (5)
Afanadribu AAankumu alththikra safhan an kuntum qawman musrifeena
Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk?
وَكَمْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن نَّبِيٍّ فِي الْأَوَّلِينَ (6)
Wakam arsalna min nabiyyin fee alawwaleena
How many a Prophet did We send among the men of old!
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ (7)
Wama yateehim min nabiyyin illa kanoo bihi yastahzioona
And never came there unto them a Prophet but they used to mock him .
فَأَهْلَكْنَا أَشَدَّ مِنْهُم بَطْشًا وَمَضَىٰ مَثَلُ الْأَوَّلِينَ (8)
Faahlakna ashadda minhum batshan wamada mathalu alawwaleena
Then we destroyed men mightier than these in prowess ; and the example of the men of old hath gone ( before them ) .
وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ خَلَقَهُنَّ الْعَزِيزُ الْعَلِيمُ (9)
Walain saaltahum man khalaqa alssamawati waalarda layaqoolunna khalaqahunna alAAazeezu alAAaleemu
And if thou ( Muhammad ) ask them : Who created the heavens and the earth , they will surely answer : The Mighty , the Knower created them ;
الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ مَهْدًا وَجَعَلَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلًا لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَ (10)
Allathee jaAAala lakumu alarda mahdan wajaAAala lakum feeha subulan laAAallakum tahtadoona
Who made the earth a resting place for you , and placed roads for you therein , that haply ye may find your way ;
وَالَّذِي نَزَّلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً بِقَدَرٍ فَأَنشَرْنَا بِهِ بَلْدَةً مَّيْتًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ تُخْرَجُونَ (11)
Waallathee nazzala mina alssamai maan biqadarin faansharna bihi baldatan maytan kathalika tukhrajoona
And who sendeth down water from the sky in ( due ) measure , and We revive a dead land therewith . Even so will ye be brought forth ;
وَالَّذِي خَلَقَ الْأَزْوَاجَ كُلَّهَا وَجَعَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ الْفُلْكِ وَالْأَنْعَامِ مَا تَرْكَبُونَ (12)
Waallathee khalaqa alazwaja kullaha wajaAAala lakum mina alfulki waalanAAami ma tarkaboona
He who created all the pairs , and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride .
لِتَسْتَوُوا عَلَىٰ ظُهُورِهِ ثُمَّ تَذْكُرُوا نِعْمَةَ رَبِّكُمْ إِذَا اسْتَوَيْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُوا سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَٰذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ (13)
Litastawoo AAala thuhoorihi thumma tathkuroo niAAmata rabbikum itha istawaytum AAalayhi wataqooloo subhana allathee sakhkhara lana hatha wama kunna lahu muqrineena
That ye may mount upon their backs , and may remember your Lord ' s favor when ye mount thereon , and may say : Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us , and we were not capable ( of subduing them ) ;
وَإِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ (14)
Wainna ila rabbina lamunqaliboona
And lo! unto our Lord we are returning .
وَجَعَلُوا لَهُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ جُزْءًا ۚ إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَكَفُورٌ مُّبِينٌ (15)
WajaAAaloo lahu min AAibadihi juzan inna alinsana lakafoorun mubeenun
And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate .
أَمِ اتَّخَذَ مِمَّا يَخْلُقُ بَنَاتٍ وَأَصْفَاكُم بِالْبَنِينَ (16)
Ami ittakhatha mimma yakhluqu banatin waasfakum bialbaneena
Or chooseth He daughters of all that He hath created , and honoureth He you with sons?
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُم بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ (17)
Waitha bushshira ahaduhum bima daraba lilrrahmani mathalan thalla wajhuhu muswaddan wahuwa katheemun
And if one of them hath tidings of that which he likeneth to the Beneficent One , his countenance becometh black and he is full of inward rage .
أَوَمَن يُنَشَّأُ فِي الْحِلْيَةِ وَهُوَ فِي الْخِصَامِ غَيْرُ مُبِينٍ (18)
Awaman yunashshao fee alhilyati wahuwa fee alkhisami ghayru mubeenin
( Liken they then to Allah ) that which is bred up in outward show , and in dispute cannot make itself plain?
وَجَعَلُوا الْمَلَائِكَةَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ عِبَادُ الرَّحْمَٰنِ إِنَاثًا ۚ أَشَهِدُوا خَلْقَهُمْ ۚ سَتُكْتَبُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ وَيُسْأَلُونَ (19)
WajaAAaloo almalaikata allatheena hum AAibadu alrrahmani inathan ashahidoo khalqahum satuktabu shahadatuhum wayusaloona
And they make the angels , who are the slaves of the Beneficent , females . Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded and they will be questioned .
وَقَالُوا لَوْ شَاءَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ مَا عَبَدْنَاهُم ۗ مَّا لَهُم بِذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ ۖ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ (20)
Waqaloo law shaa alrrahmanu ma AAabadnahum ma lahum bithalika min AAilmin in hum illa yakhrusoona
And they say : If the Beneficent One had ( so ) willed , we should not have worshipped them . They have no knowledge whatsoever of that . They do but guess .
أَمْ آتَيْنَاهُمْ كِتَابًا مِّن قَبْلِهِ فَهُم بِهِ مُسْتَمْسِكُونَ (21)
Am ataynahum kitaban min qablihi fahum bihi mustamsikoona
Or have We given them any Scripture before ( this quran_en ) so that they are holding fast thereto?
بَلْ قَالُوا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِم مُّهْتَدُونَ (22)
Bal qaloo inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muhtadoona
Nay , for they say only : Lo! we found our fathers following a religion , and we are guided by their footprints .
وَكَذَٰلِكَ مَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّذِيرٍ إِلَّا قَالَ مُتْرَفُوهَا إِنَّا وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا عَلَىٰ أُمَّةٍ وَإِنَّا عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِم مُّقْتَدُونَ (23)
Wakathalika ma arsalna min qablika fee qaryatin min natheerin illa qala mutrafooha inna wajadna abaana AAala ommatin wainna AAala atharihim muqtadoona
And even so We sent not a warner before thee ( Muhammad ) into any township but its luxurious ones said : Lo! we found our fathers following a religion , and we are following their footprints .
۞ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكُم بِأَهْدَىٰ مِمَّا وَجَدتُّمْ عَلَيْهِ آبَاءَكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ (24)
Qala awalaw jitukum biahda mimma wajadtum AAalayhi abaakum qaloo inna bima orsiltum bihi kafiroona
( And the warner ) said : What! Even though I bring you better guidance than that ye found your fathers following? They answered : Lo! in what ye bring we are disbelievers .
فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ ۖ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ (25)
Faintaqamna minhum faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almukaththibeena
So We requited them . Then see the nature of the consequence for the rejecters!
وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ إِنَّنِي بَرَاءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ (26)
Waith qala ibraheemu liabeehi waqawmihi innanee baraon mimma taAAbudoona
And when Abraham said unto his father and his folk : Lo! I am innocent of what ye worship
إِلَّا الَّذِي فَطَرَنِي فَإِنَّهُ سَيَهْدِينِ (27)
Illa allathee fataranee fainnahu sayahdeeni
Save Him Who did create me , for He will surely guide me .
وَجَعَلَهَا كَلِمَةً بَاقِيَةً فِي عَقِبِهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ (28)
WajaAAalaha kalimatan baqiyatan fee AAaqibihi laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
And he made It a word enduring among his seed , that haply they might return .
بَلْ مَتَّعْتُ هَٰؤُلَاءِ وَآبَاءَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ وَرَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ (29)
Bal mattaAAtu haolai waabaahum hatta jaahumu alhaqqu warasoolun mubeenun
Nay , but I let these and their fathers enjoy life ( only ) till there should come unto them the Truth and a messenger making plain .
وَلَمَّا جَاءَهُمُ الْحَقُّ قَالُوا هَٰذَا سِحْرٌ وَإِنَّا بِهِ كَافِرُونَ (30)
Walamma jaahumu alhaqqu qaloo hatha sihrun wainna bihi kafiroona
And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say : This is mere magic , and lo! we are disbelievers therein .
وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا نُزِّلَ هَٰذَا الْقُرْآنُ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنَ الْقَرْيَتَيْنِ عَظِيمٍ (31)
Waqaloo lawla nuzzila hatha alquranu AAala rajulin mina alqaryatayni AAatheemun
And they say : If only thin quran_en had been revealed to some great man of the two towns?
أَهُمْ يَقْسِمُونَ رَحْمَتَ رَبِّكَ ۚ نَحْنُ قَسَمْنَا بَيْنَهُم مَّعِيشَتَهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَرَفَعْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ فَوْقَ بَعْضٍ دَرَجَاتٍ لِّيَتَّخِذَ بَعْضُهُم بَعْضًا سُخْرِيًّا ۗ وَرَحْمَتُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٌ مِّمَّا يَجْمَعُونَ (32)
Ahum yaqsimoona rahmata rabbika nahnu qasamna baynahum maAAeeshatahum fee alhayati alddunya warafaAAna baAAdahum fawqa baAAdin darajatin liyattakhitha baAAduhum baAAdan sukhriyyan warahmatu rabbika khayrun mimma yajmaAAoona
Is it they who apportion their Lord ' s mercy? We have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world , and raised some of them above others in rank that some of them may take labor from others ; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than ( the wealth ) that they amass .
وَلَوْلَا أَن يَكُونَ النَّاسُ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً لَّجَعَلْنَا لِمَن يَكْفُرُ بِالرَّحْمَٰنِ لِبُيُوتِهِمْ سُقُفًا مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَمَعَارِجَ عَلَيْهَا يَظْهَرُونَ (33)
Walawla an yakoona alnnasu ommatan wahidatan lajaAAalna liman yakfuru bialrrahmani libuyootihim suqufan min fiddatin wamaAAarija AAalayha yathharoona
And were it not that mankind would have become one community , We might well have appointed , for those who disbelieve in the Beneficent , roofs of silver for their houses and stairs ( of silver ) whereby to mount ,
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْ أَبْوَابًا وَسُرُرًا عَلَيْهَا يَتَّكِئُونَ (34)
Walibuyootihim abwaban wasururan AAalayha yattakioona
And for their houses doors ( of silver ) and couches of silver whereon to recline ,
وَزُخْرُفًا ۚ وَإِن كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمَّا مَتَاعُ الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا ۚ وَالْآخِرَةُ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ (35)
Wazukhrufan wain kullu thalika lamma mataAAu alhayati alddunya waalakhiratu AAinda rabbika lilmuttaqeena
And ornaments of gold . Yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world . And the Hereafter with your Lord would have been for those who keep from evil .
وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَانًا فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ (36)
Waman yaAAshu AAan thikri alrrahmani nuqayyid lahu shaytanan fahuwa lahu qareenun
And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent , We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade ;
وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَصُدُّونَهُمْ عَنِ السَّبِيلِ وَيَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَ (37)
Wainnahum layasuddoonahum AAani alssabeeli wayahsaboona annahum muhtadoona
And lo! they surely turn them from the way of Allah , and yet they deem that they are rightly guided ;
حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَنَا قَالَ يَا لَيْتَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ بُعْدَ الْمَشْرِقَيْنِ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرِينُ (38)
Hatta itha jaana qala ya layta baynee wabaynaka buAAda almashriqayni fabisa alqareenu
Till , when he cometh unto Us , he saith ( unto his comrade ) : Ah , would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons , an evil comrade!
وَلَن يَنفَعَكُمُ الْيَوْمَ إِذ ظَّلَمْتُمْ أَنَّكُمْ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ (39)
Walan yanfaAAakumu alyawma ith thalamtum annakum fee alAAathabi mushtarikoona
And it profiteth you not this day , because ye did wrong , that ye will be sharers in the doom .
أَفَأَنتَ تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ أَوْ تَهْدِي الْعُمْيَ وَمَن كَانَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ (40)
Afaanta tusmiAAu alssumma aw tahdee alAAumya waman kana fee dalalin mubeenin
Canst thou ( Muhammad ) make the deaf to hear , or canst thou guide the blind or him who is in error manifest?
فَإِمَّا نَذْهَبَنَّ بِكَ فَإِنَّا مِنْهُم مُّنتَقِمُونَ (41)
Faimma nathhabanna bika fainna minhum muntaqimoona
And if We take thee away , We surely shall take vengeance on them ,
أَوْ نُرِيَنَّكَ الَّذِي وَعَدْنَاهُمْ فَإِنَّا عَلَيْهِم مُّقْتَدِرُونَ (42)
Aw nuriyannaka allathee waAAadnahum fainna AAalayhim muqtadiroona
Or ( if ) We show thee that wherewith We threaten them ; for lo! We have complete command of them .
فَاسْتَمْسِكْ بِالَّذِي أُوحِيَ إِلَيْكَ ۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ (43)
Faistamsik biallathee oohiya ilayka innaka AAala siratin mustaqeemin
So hold thou fast to that which is inspired in thee . Lo! thou art on a right path .
وَإِنَّهُ لَذِكْرٌ لَّكَ وَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖ وَسَوْفَ تُسْأَلُونَ (44)
Wainnahu lathikrun laka waliqawmika wasawfa tusaloona
And lo! it is in truth a Reminder for thee and for thy folk ; and ye will be questioned .
وَاسْأَلْ مَنْ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَا أَجَعَلْنَا مِن دُونِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ آلِهَةً يُعْبَدُونَ (45)
Waisal man arsalna min qablika min rusulina ajaAAalna min dooni alrrahmani alihatan yuAAbadoona
And ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before thee : Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped beside the Beneficent?
وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا مُوسَىٰ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَئِهِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (46)
Walaqad arsalna moosa biayatina ila firAAawna wamalaihi faqala innee rasoolu rabbi alAAalameena
And verily We sent Moses with Our revelations unto Pharaoh and his chiefs , and he said : I am a messenger of the Lord of the Worlds .
فَلَمَّا جَاءَهُم بِآيَاتِنَا إِذَا هُم مِّنْهَا يَضْحَكُونَ (47)
Falamma jaahum biayatina itha hum minha yadhakoona
But when he brought them Our tokens , behold! they laughed at them .
وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنْ آيَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أُخْتِهَا ۖ وَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِالْعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَ (48)
Wama nureehim min ayatin illa hiya akbaru min okhtiha waakhathnahum bialAAathabi laAAallahum yarjiAAoona
And every token that We showed them was greater than its sister ( token ) , and we grasped them with the torment , that haply they might turn again .
وَقَالُوا يَا أَيُّهَ السَّاحِرُ ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهْتَدُونَ (49)
Waqaloo ya ayyuha alsahiru odAAu lana rabbaka bima AAahida AAindaka innana lamuhtadoona
And they said : O wizard ; Entreat thy Lord for us by the pact that He hath made with thee . Lo! we verily will walk aright .
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ الْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ (50)
Falamma kashafna AAanhumu alAAathaba itha hum yankuthoona
But when We eased them of the torment , behold! they broke their word .
