ततस ते नरशार्दूला भरातरः पञ्च पाण्डवाः
परययुर दरौपदीं दरष्टुं तं च देवमहॊत्सवम
“Vaisampayana said, ‘Without much minding Dhritarashtra, the son ofVichitravirya who was about to ask of Partha,
“Vaisampayana said, ‘Meanwhile the Pandavas got into their cars, yokingthereto some fine horses endued with the speed of wind. While they wereon the point of entering their cars, they touched, in great sorrow, thefeet of Bhishma, of king Dhritarashtra, of the illustrious Drona, ofKripa, of Vidura and of the other elders of the Kuru race.
वनवास के समय पाण्डव द्वैत वन में थे| वन में घूमते समय एक दिन उन्हें प्यास लगी| धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर ने वृक्ष पर चढ़कर इधर-उधर देखा| एक स्थान पर हरियाली तथा जल होने के चिह्न देखकर उन्होंने नकुल को जल लाने भेजा| नकुल उस स्थान की ओर चल पड़े| वहां उन्हें स्वच्छ जल से पूर्ण एक सरोवर मिला, किंतु जैसे ही वे सरोवर में जल पीने उतरे, उन्हें यह वाणी सुनाई पड़ी, “इस सरोवर का पानी पीने का साहस मत करो| इसके जल पर मैं पहले ही अधिकार कर चुका हूं| पहले मेरे प्रश्नों का उत्तर दो, तब पानी पीना|”
Vaisampayana said, “Hearing various sounds resounding in the caves of themountain and not seeing Bhimasena, Kunti’s son, Ajatasatru and the twinsons of Madri and Dhaumya and Krishna and all the Brahmanas and thefriends (of the Pandavas), were filled with anxiety.
“Somaka said, ‘O Brahmana! whatever is to be performed–do precisely asit may be necessary. As I am desirous of having a number of sons, I shalldo all that may be prescribed by thee.”
“Vaisampayana said, ‘After Kunti had sat up, Subhadra, beholding herbrother, began to weep aloud, and afflicted with excessive grief,said,–‘O thou of eyes like lotus petals, behold the grandson of Arjunaof great intelligence.
