“Dhritarashtra said, ‘O holy one, I did not like this business ofgambling, but, O Muni, I think, I was made to consent to it drawn byfate! Neither Bhishma, nor Drona, nor Vidura, nor Gandhari liked thisgame at dice. No doubt, it was begot of folly. And, O thou who delightestin the observance of vows, O illustrious one, knowing everything yetinfluenced by paternal affection, I am unable to cast off my senselessson, Duryodhana!’
“Dhritarashtra said, ‘I see, O sire, that this act of Karna andDuryodhana and Suvala’s son, Sakuni, and of thyself, in especial, hathbeen very much against the dictates of policy.
“Vaisampayana said, ‘And beholding the Sutas slain, the citizens went tothe king, and represented unto him what had happened, saying, ‘O king,those mighty sons of the Sutas have all been slain by the Gandharvas.
बात काफ़ी पुरानी है…गणेशपुर नरेश ब्रहमदत का राजपंडित एक बार वन में एकांत स्थान पर कोई गुप्त मंत्र जप रहा था| तभी वहीं पास लेटे एक सियार के कान खड़े हो गए, वह भी ध्यान से सुनने लगा| कुछ देर बाद राजपंडित खड़ा हुआ और बोला, ‘बस, मुझे मंत्र सिद्ध हो गया|
Vaisampayana said,–“thus addressed, Bhima firmly resolved upon slayingJarasandha, replied unto Krishna of the Yadu race, saying,–O tiger ofthe Yadu race, O Krishna, this wretch that yet stayeth before me withsufficient strength and bent upon fight, should not be forgiven by me.
एक बड़े विरक्त, त्यागी सन्त थे| एक व्यक्ति उनका शिष्य हो गया| वह बहुत पढ़ा-लिखा था| उसने व्याख्यान देना शुरू कर दिया| बहुत लोग उसके पास आने लगे|

एक जंगल में गीदड़ रहता था| उसे एक बार कही से मरा हुआ| हाथी नजर आ गया| वह उसके चारों ओर घूमता रहा| किन्तु उसकी सख्त खाल को फाड़ न पाया, उसी समय उधर से कहीं एक घूमता हुआ शेर आ गया| उस गीदड़ ने शेर के आगे सिर झुकाकर कहा, महाराज यह आपका शिकार है| मैं कल से खड़ा इसकी रक्षा कर रहा हूं|
