किं कारणं कार्तयुगप्रधान; हित्वा तत्त्वं वसुधाम अन्वपद्यः
सेर को सवा सेर
एक राजमहल के पिछवाड़े में एक बहुत बड़ा सरोवर था| उसमे अनेक सुनहरे हंस रहते थे| प्रत्येक हंस छह मास बाद सोने का एक पँख सरोवर के तट पर छोड़ देता था, जिसे राजा के सेवक उठा ले जाते थे|

भावं जिज्ञासमानॊ ऽहं परणयाद इदम अब्रुवम
न चाक्षेपान न पाण्डित्यान न करॊधान न विवक्षया
Chapter 93
Sanjaya said,–“That arrowy shower, difficult of being borne by even theDanavas, king Duryodhana, however, (quietly) bore in that battle, like agigantic elephant bearing a shower (from the blue).

“Yudhishthira said, ‘When such a fate overtook that high-souled monarchwho was engaged in austere penances, notwithstanding the fact of hishaving such kinsmen as ourselves all alive, it seems to me, O regenerateone, that the end of human beings is difficult to guess.
Chapter 54
“Sauti said, ‘Then the snake-dame Jaratkaru, calling her own son, toldhim the following words according to the directions of Vasuki, the kingof the snakes. ‘O son, the time is come for the accomplishment of thatobject for which I was bestowed on thy father by my brother. Therefore,do thou that which should be done.’
पतिव्रता गान्धारी – महाभारत
संसारकी पतिव्रता देवियोंमें गान्धारीका विशेष स्थान है| ये गन्धर्वराज सुबलकी पुत्री और शकुनिकी बहन थीं| इन्होंने कौमार्यावस्थामें भगवान् शंकरकी आराधना करके उनसे सौ पुत्रोंका वरदान प्राप्त किया था|
महर्षि वाल्मीकि जी (Maharshi Walmiki Ji)
महर्षि वाल्मीकि का जन्म त्रैता युग में अस्सू पूर्णमाशी को एक श्रेष्ठ घराने में हुआ| आप अपने आरम्भिक जीवन में बड़ी तपस्वी एवं भजनीक थे| लेकिन एक राजघराने में पैदा होने के कारण आप शस्त्र विद्या में भी काफी निपुण थे|
