महर्षि आयोदधौम्य अपनी विद्या, तपस्या और विचित्र उदारता के लिए बहुत प्रसिद्ध थे। वे ऊपर से तो अपने शिष्यों के प्रति अत्यंत कठोर थे, किंतु भीतर से शिष्यों को असीम स्नेह करते थे।
