98. Al-Bayyinah (1 to 8)
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture
and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] …
1 لَمْ يَكُنِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مُنفَكِّينَ حَتَّىٰ تَأْتِيَهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
lam yakuni ‘l:aðiyna kafaruw’ min ‘ʔahli ‘lkitabi wa’lmuʃrikiyna munfak:iyna ḥat:ay’ ta’ʔtiyahumu ‘lbay:inatu
Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -
2 رَسُولٌۭ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ يَتْلُوا۟ صُحُفًۭا مُّطَهَّرَةًۭ
rasuwlunm m:ina ‘ll:ahi yatluw’ ṣuḥufanm’ m:uṭah:aratanm
A Messenger from Allah , reciting purified scriptures
3 فِيهَا كُتُبٌۭ قَيِّمَةٌۭ
fiyha’ kutubunm qay:imatunm
Within which are correct writings.
4 وَمَا تَفَرَّقَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَبَ إِلَّا مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلْبَيِّنَةُ
wama’ tafar:aqa ‘l:aðiyna ‘ʔuwtuw’ ‘lkitaba ‘ʔil:a’ minm baʕdi ma’ ja’ʔʔathumu ‘lbay:inatu
Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
5 وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَذَلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ
wama’ʔ ‘ʔumiruwʔ’ ‘ʔil:a’ liyaʕbuduw’ ‘ll:aha muxliṣiyna lahu ‘ld:iyna ḥunafa’ʔʔa wayuqiymuw’ ‘lṣ:alaw’ta wayuwʔtuw’ ‘lz:akaw’ta j waðalika diynu ‘lqay:imati
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah , [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.
6 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَبِ وَٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ فِى نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ خَلِدِينَ فِيهَآ ۚ أُو۟لَٓئِكَ هُمْ شَرُّ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
‘ʔin:a ‘l:aðiyna kafaruw’ min ‘ʔahli ‘lkitabi wa’lmuʃrikiyna fiy na’ri jahan:ama xalidiyna fiyha’ʔ j ‘ʔuwlaʔyʔika hum ʃar:u ‘lbariy:ati
Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
7 إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّلِحَتِ أُو۟لَٓئِكَ هُمْ خَيْرُ ٱلْبَرِيَّةِ
‘ʔin:a ‘l:aðiyna ʔa’manuw’ waʕamiluw’ ‘lṣ:aliḥati ‘ʔuwlaʔyʔika hum xayru ‘lbariy:ati
Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
8 جَزَآؤُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ جَنَّتُ عَدْنٍۢ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَرُ خَلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۖ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ ۚ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ خَشِىَ رَبَّهُۥ
jaza’ʔwʔuhum ʕinda rab:ihim jan:atu ʕadninm tajriy min taḥtiha’ ‘l’ʔanharu xalidiyna fiyha’ʔ ‘ʔabadanm’ sl’ r:aḍiya ‘ll:ahu ʕanhum waraḍuw’ ʕanhu j ðalika liman xaʃiya rab:ahuw
Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
