sa’ʔala sa’ʔyʔilunm biʕaða’binm wa’qiʕinm
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen
l:ilkafiriyna laysa lahuw da’fiʕunm
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.
m:ina ‘ll:ahi ðiy ‘lmaʕa’riji
[It is] from Allah , owner of the ways of ascent.
taʕruju ‘lmalaʔyʔikatu wa’lr:uwḥu ‘ʔilayhi fiy yawminm ka’na miqda’ruhuw xamsiyna ‘ʔalfa sanatinm
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
fa’ṣbir ṣabranm’ jamiylan’
So be patient with gracious patience.
‘ʔin:ahum yarawnahuw baʕiydanm’
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
wanaray’hu qariybanm’
But We see it [as] near.
yawma takuwnu ‘ls:ama’ʔʔu ka’lmuhli
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,
watakuwnu ‘ljiba’lu ka’lʕihni
And the mountains will be like wool,
wala’ yasʔalu ḥamiymun ḥamiymanm’
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
yubaṣ:aruwnahum j yawad:u ‘lmujrimu law yaftadiy min ʕaða’bi yawmiyʔiðinm bibaniyhi
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children
waṣaḥibatihiy wa’ʔaxiyhi
And his wife and his brother
wafaṣiylatihi ‘l:atiy tuʔwiyhi
And his nearest kindred who shelter him
waman fiy ‘l’ʔarḍi jamiyʕanm’ èum:a yunjiyhi
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
kal:a’ʔ sl’ ‘ʔin:aha’ laẓay’
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
naz:a’ʕatanm l:ilʃ:away’
A remover of exteriors.
tadʕuw’ man ‘ʔadbara watawal:ay’
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
wajamaʕa fa’ʔawʕay’ʔ
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
‘ʔin:a ‘l’ʔinsana xuliqa haluwʕan’
Indeed, mankind was created anxious:
‘ʔiًa’ mas:ahu ‘lʃ:ar:u jazuwʕanm’
When evil touches him, impatient,
wa’ʔiًa’ mas:ahu ‘lxayru manuwʕan’
And when good touches him, withholding [of it],
‘ʔil:a’ ‘lmuṣal:iyna
Except the observers of prayer -
‘l:aًiyna hum ʕalay’ ṣala’tihim da’ʔyʔimuwna
Those who are constant in their prayer
wa’l:aًiyna fiyʔ ‘ʔamwalihim ḥaq:unm m:aʕluwmunm
And those within whose wealth is a known right
l:ils:a’ʔyʔili wa’lmaḥruwmi
For the petitioner and the deprived -
wa’l:aًiyna yuṣad:iquwna biyawmi ‘ld:iyni
And those who believe in the Day of Recompense
wa’l:aًiyna hum m:in ʕaًa’bi rab:ihim m:uʃfiquwna
And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord -
‘ʔin:a ʕaًa’ba rab:ihim ɣayru ma’ʔmuwninm
Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe -
wa’l:aًiyna hum lifuruwjihim ḥafiẓuwna
And those who guard their private parts
Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed -
famani ‘btaɣay’ wara’ʔʔa ًalika fa’ʔuwlaʔyʔika humu ‘lʕa’duwna
But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors -
wa’l:aًiyna hum li’ʔamanatihim waʕahdihim raʕuwna
And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive
wa’l:aًiyna hum biʃahadatihim qa’ʔyʔimuwna
And those who are in their testimonies upright
wa’l:aًiyna hum ʕalay’ ṣala’tihim yuḥa’fiẓuwna
And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer:
‘ʔuwlaʔyʔika fiy jan:atinm m:ukramuwna
They will be in gardens, honored.
fama’li ‘l:aًiyna kafaruw’ qibalaka muhṭiʕiyna
So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad],
ʕani ‘lyamiyni waʕani ‘lʃ:ima’li ʕiziyna
[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups?
‘ʔayaṭmaʕu kul:u ‘mriyʔinm m:inhum ‘ʔan yudxala jan:ata naʕiyminm
Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure?
kal:a’ʔ sl’ ‘ʔin:a’ xalaqnahum m:im:a’ yaʕlamuwna
No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know.
fala’ʔ ‘ʔuqsimu birab:i ‘lmaʃariqi wa’lmaɣaribi ‘ʔin:a’ laqadiruwna
So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able
ʕalay’ʔ ‘ʔan n:ubad:ila xayranm’ m:inhum wama’ naḥnu bimasbuwqiyna
To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone.
faًarhum yaxuwḍuw’ wayalʕabuw’ ḥat:ay’ yulaquw’ yawmahumu ‘l:aًiy yuwʕaduwna
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised -
yawma yaxrujuwna mina ‘l’ʔajda’èi sira’ʕanm’ ka’ʔan:ahum ‘ʔilay’ nuṣubinm yuwfiḍuwna
The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening.
xaʃiʕatan ‘ʔabṣaruhum tarhaquhum ًil:atunm j ًalika ‘lyawmu ‘l:aًiy ka’nuw’ yuwʕaduwna
Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised.
