7b. Al-Araf (51 to 100)
Who took their religion for a sport and pastime , and whom
the life of the world beguiled . So this day We have forgotten …
الَّذِينَ اتَّخَذُوا دِينَهُمْ لَهْوًا وَلَعِبًا وَغَرَّتْهُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا ۚ فَالْيَوْمَ نَنسَاهُمْ كَمَا نَسُوا لِقَاءَ يَوْمِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَمَا كَانُوا بِآيَاتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَ (51)
Allatheena ittakhathoo deenahum lahwan walaAAiban wagharrathumu alhayatu alddunya faalyawma nansahum kama nasoo liqaa yawmihim hatha wama kanoo biayatina yajhadoona
Who took their religion for a sport and pastime , and whom the life of the world beguiled . So this day We have forgotten them even as they forgot the meeting of this Day and as they used to deny Our tokens .
وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَاهُم بِكِتَابٍ فَصَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِّقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ (52)
Walaqad jinahum bikitabin fassalnahu AAala AAilmin hudan warahmatan liqawmin yuminoona
Verily We have brought them a Scripture which We expound with knowledge , a guidance and a mercy for a people who believe .
هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَأْوِيلَهُ ۚ يَوْمَ يَأْتِي تَأْوِيلُهُ يَقُولُ الَّذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَاءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَاءَ فَيَشْفَعُوا لَنَا أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَعْمَلُ ۚ قَدْ خَسِرُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يَفْتَرُونَ (53)
Hal yanthuroona illa taweelahu yawma yatee taweeluhu yaqoolu allatheena nasoohu min qablu qad jaat rusulu rabbina bialhaqqi fahal lana min shufaAAaa fayashfaAAoo lana aw nuraddu fanaAAmala ghayra allathee kunna naAAmalu qad khasiroo anfusahum wadalla AAanhum ma kanoo yaftaroona
Await they aught save the fulfillment thereof? On the day when the fulfillment thereof cometh , those who were before forgetful thereof will say : The messengers of our Lord did bring the Truth ! Have we any intercessors , that they may intercede for us? Or can we be returned ( to life on earth ) , that we may act otherwise than we used to act? They have lost their souls , and that which they devised bath failed them .
إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اللَّهُ الَّذِي خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ فِي سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَوَىٰ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ يُغْشِي اللَّيْلَ النَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُ حَثِيثًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَاتٍ بِأَمْرِهِ ۗ أَلَا لَهُ الْخَلْقُ وَالْأَمْرُ ۗ تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ (54)
Inna rabbakumu Allahu allathee khalaqa alssamawati waalarda fee sittati ayyamin thumma istawa AAala alAAarshi yughshee allayla alnnahara yatlubuhu hatheethan waalshshamsa waalqamara waalnnujooma musakhkharatin biamrihi ala lahu alkhalqu waalamru tabaraka Allahu rabbu alAAalameena
Lo! your Lord is Allah Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days , then mounted He the Throne . He covereth the night with the day , which is in haste to follow it , and hath made the sun and the moon and the stars subservient by His command . His verily is all creation and commandment Blessed be Allah , the Lord of the Worlds!
ادْعُوا رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعًا وَخُفْيَةً ۚ إِنَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ الْمُعْتَدِينَ (55)
OdAAoo rabbakum tadarruAAan wakhufyatan innahu la yuhibbu almuAAtadeena
O mankind! ) Call upon your Lord humbly and in secret . Lo! He loveth not aggressors .
وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا وَادْعُوهُ خَوْفًا وَطَمَعًا ۚ إِنَّ رَحْمَتَ اللَّهِ قَرِيبٌ مِّنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ (56)
Wala tufsidoo fee alardi baAAda islahiha waodAAoohu khawfan watamaAAan inna rahmata Allahi qareebun mina almuhsineena
Work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering ( thereof ) , and call on Him in fear and hope . Lo! the mercy of Allah is nigh unto the good .
وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُرْسِلُ الرِّيَاحَ بُشْرًا بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ ۖ حَتَّىٰ إِذَا أَقَلَّتْ سَحَابًا ثِقَالًا سُقْنَاهُ لِبَلَدٍ مَّيِّتٍ فَأَنزَلْنَا بِهِ الْمَاءَ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِ مِن كُلِّ الثَّمَرَاتِ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُخْرِجُ الْمَوْتَىٰ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ (57)
Wahuwa allathee yursilu alrriyaha bushran bayna yaday rahmatihi hatta itha aqallat sahaban thiqalan suqnahu libaladin mayyitin faanzalna bihi almaa faakhrajna bihi min kulli alththamarati kathalika nukhriju almawta laAAallakum tathakkaroona
And He it is Who sendeth the winds as tidings heralding His mercy , till , when they bear a cloud heavy ( with rain ) , We lead it to a dead land , and then cause water to descend thereon , and thereby bring forth fruits of every kind . Thus bring We forth the dead . Haply ye may remember .
وَالْبَلَدُ الطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِ ۖ وَالَّذِي خَبُثَ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا نَكِدًا ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ الْآيَاتِ لِقَوْمٍ يَشْكُرُونَ (58)
Waalbaladu alttayyibu yakhruju nabatuhu biithni rabbihi waallathee khabutha la yakhruju illa nakidan kathalika nusarrifu alayati liqawmin yashkuroona
As for the good land , its vegetation cometh forth by permission of its Lord ; while as for that which is bad , only evil cometh forth ( from it ) . Thus do We recount the tokens for people who give thanks .
لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ فَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ (59)
Laqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu innee akhafu AAalaykum AAathaba yawmin AAatheemin
We sent Noah ( of old ) unto his people , and he said : O my people! Serve Allah . Ye have no other God save Him . Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an Awful Day .
قَالَ الْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ (60)
Qala almalao min qawmihi inna lanaraka fee dalalin mubeenin
The chieftains of his people said : Lo! we see thee surely in plain error .
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي ضَلَالَةٌ وَلَٰكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (61)
Qala ya qawmi laysa bee dalalatun walakinnee rasoolun min rabbi alAAalameena
He said : O my people! There Is no error me , but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds .
أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنصَحُ لَكُمْ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ (62)
Oballighukum risalati rabbee waansahu lakum waaAAlamu mina Allahi ma la taAAlamoona
I convey unto you the messages of my Lord and give good counsel unto you , and know from Allah that which ye know not .
أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَلِتَتَّقُوا وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ (63)
AwaAAajibtum an jaakum thikrun min rabbikum AAala rajulin minkum liyunthirakum walitattaqoo walaAAallakum turhamoona
Marvel ye that there should come unto you a Reminder from your Lord by means of a man among you , that he may warn you , and that ye may keep from evil , and that haply ye may find mercy .
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ وَأَغْرَقْنَا الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا عَمِينَ (64)
Fakaththaboohu faanjaynahu waallatheena maAAahu fee alfulki waaghraqna allatheena kaththaboo biayatina innahum kanoo qawman AAameena
But they denied him , so We saved him and those with him in the ship , and We drowned those who denied Our token Lo! they were blind folk .
۞ وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ أَخَاهُمْ هُودًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۚ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَ (65)
Waila AAadin akhahum hoodan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu afala tattaqoona
And unto ( the tribe of ) Aad ( We sent ) their brother , Hud . He said : O my people! Serve Allah . Ye have no other God save Him . Will ye not ward off ( evil ) ?
قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ إِنَّا لَنَرَاكَ فِي سَفَاهَةٍ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ (66)
Qala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi inna lanaraka fee safahatin wainna lanathunnuka mina alkathibeena
The chieftains of his people , who were disbelieving , said : Lo! we surely see thee in foolishness , and lo! we deem thee of the liars .
قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِي سَفَاهَةٌ وَلَٰكِنِّي رَسُولٌ مِّن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (67)
Qala ya qawmi laysa bee safahatun walakinnee rasoolun min rabbi alAAalameena
He said : O my people ; There is no foolishness in me , but I am a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds .
أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَأَنَا لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ أَمِينٌ (68)
Oballighukum risalati rabbee waana lakum nasihun ameenun
I convey unto you the messages of my Lord and am for you a true adviser .
أَوَعَجِبْتُمْ أَن جَاءَكُمْ ذِكْرٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٍ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ ۚ وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِن بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٍ وَزَادَكُمْ فِي الْخَلْقِ بَسْطَةً ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ (69)
AwaAAajibtum an jaakum thikrun min rabbikum AAala rajulin minkum liyunthirakum waothkuroo ith jaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi qawmi noohin wazadakum fee alkhalqi bastatan faothkuroo alaa Allahi laAAallakum tuflihoona
Marvel ye that there should come unto you a Reminder from your Lord by means of a man among you , that he may warn you? Remember how He made you viceroys after Noah ' s folk , and gave you growth of stature . Remember ( all ) the bounties of your Lord , that haply ye may be successful .
قَالُوا أَجِئْتَنَا لِنَعْبُدَ اللَّهَ وَحْدَهُ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ آبَاؤُنَا ۖ فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ (70)
Qaloo ajitana linaAAbuda Allaha wahdahu wanathara ma kana yaAAbudu abaona fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena
They said : Hast come unto us that we should serve Allah alone , and forsake what our fathers worshipped? Then bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us if thou art of the truth .
قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ رِجْسٌ وَغَضَبٌ ۖ أَتُجَادِلُونَنِي فِي أَسْمَاءٍ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَا أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُم مَّا نَزَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَانٍ ۚ فَانتَظِرُوا إِنِّي مَعَكُم مِّنَ الْمُنتَظِرِينَ (71)
Qala qad waqaAAa AAalaykum min rabbikum rijsun waghadabun atujadiloonanee fee asmain sammaytumooha antum waabaokum ma nazzala Allahu biha min sultanin faintathiroo innee maAAakum mina almuntathireena
He said : Terror and wrath from your Lord have already fallen on you . Would ye wrangle with me over names which ye have named , ye and your fathers , for which no warrant from Allah hath been revealed? Then await ( the consequence ) , Lo! I ( also ) am of those awaiting ( it ) .
فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَقَطَعْنَا دَابِرَ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ وَمَا كَانُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ (72)
Faanjaynahu waallatheena maAAahu birahmatin minna waqataAAna dabira allatheena kaththaboo biayatina wama kanoo mumineena
And We saved him and those with him by a mercy from Us , and We cut the root of those who denied Our revelations and were not believers .
وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَالِحًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةُ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ آيَةً ۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَأْكُلْ فِي أَرْضِ اللَّهِ ۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (73)
Waila thamooda akhahum salihan qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatun min rabbikum hathihi naqatu Allahi lakum ayatan fatharooha takul fee ardi Allahi wala tamassooha bisooin fayakhuthakum AAathabun aleemun
And to ( the tribe of ) Thamud ( We sent ) their brother Salih . He said : O my people! Serve Allah . Ye have no other God save Him . A wonder from your Lord hath come unto you . Lo! this is the camel of Allah , a token unto you ; so let her feed in Allah ' s earth , and touch her not with hurt lest painful torment seize you .
وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَاءَ مِن بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ الْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا ۖ فَاذْكُرُوا آلَاءَ اللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ (74)
Waothkuroo ith jaAAalakum khulafaa min baAAdi AAadin wabawwaakum fee alardi tattakhithoona min suhooliha qusooran watanhitoona aljibala buyootan faothkuroo alaa Allahi wala taAAthaw fee alardi mufsideena
And remember how He made you viceroys after Aad and gave you station in the earth . Ye choose castles in the plains and hew the mountains into dwellings . So remember ( all ) the bounties of Allah and do not evil , making mischief in the earth .
قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لِلَّذِينَ اسْتُضْعِفُوا لِمَنْ آمَنَ مِنْهُمْ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَالِحًا مُّرْسَلٌ مِّن رَّبِّهِ ۚ قَالُوا إِنَّا بِمَا أُرْسِلَ بِهِ مُؤْمِنُونَ (75)
Qala almalao allatheena istakbaroo min qawmihi lillatheena istudAAifoo liman amana minhum ataAAlamoona anna salihan mursalun min rabbihi qaloo inna bima orsila bihi muminoona
The chieftains of his people , who were scornful , said unto those whom they despised , unto such of them as believed : Know ye that Salih is one sent from his Lord? They said : Lo! In that wherewith he hath been sent we are believers .
قَالَ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا إِنَّا بِالَّذِي آمَنتُم بِهِ كَافِرُونَ (76)
Qala allatheena istakbaroo inna biallathee amantum bihi kafiroona
Those who were scornful said : Lo! in that which ye believe we are disbelievers .
فَعَقَرُوا النَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ وَقَالُوا يَا صَالِحُ ائْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ (77)
FaAAaqaroo alnnaqata waAAataw AAan amri rabbihim waqaloo ya salihu itina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina almursaleena
So they hamstrung the she camel , and they flouted the commandment of their Lord , and they said : O Salih! Bring upon us that thou threatenest if thou art indeed of those sent ( from Allah ) .
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ (78)
Faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena
So the earthquake seized them , and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling place .
فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُحِبُّونَ النَّاصِحِينَ (79)
Fatawalla AAanhum waqala ya qawmi laqad ablaghtukum risalata rabbee wanasahtu lakum walakin la tuhibboona alnnasiheena
And Salih turned on them and said : O my people! I delivered my Lord ' s message unto you and gave you good advice , but ye love not good advisers .
وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَاحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِّنَ الْعَالَمِينَ (80)
Walootan ith qala liqawmihi atatoona alfahishata ma sabaqakum biha min ahadin mina alAAalameena
And Lo! ( Remember ) when he said unto his folk : Will ye commit abomination such as no creature ever did before you?
إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ النِّسَاءِ ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ (81)
Innakum latatoona alrrijala shahwatan min dooni alnnisai bal antum qawmun musrifoona
Lo! ye come with lust unto men instead of women . Nay , but ye , are wanton folk .
وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِ إِلَّا أَن قَالُوا أَخْرِجُوهُم مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ أُنَاسٌ يَتَطَهَّرُونَ (82)
Wama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo akhrijoohum min qaryatikum innahum onasun yatatahharoona
And the answer of his people was only that they said ( one to another ) : Turn them out of your township . They are folk , forsooth , who keep pure .
فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ إِلَّا امْرَأَتَهُ كَانَتْ مِنَ الْغَابِرِينَ (83)
Faanjaynahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat mina alghabireena
And We rescued him and his household , save his wife , who was of those who stayed behind .
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُجْرِمِينَ (84)
Waamtarna AAalayhim mataran faonthur kayfa kana AAaqibatu almujrimeena
And We rained a rain upon them . See now the nature of the consequence for evil doers!
وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۗ قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُ ۖ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَأَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا فِي الْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَاحِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ (85)
Waila madyana akhahum shuAAayban qala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha ma lakum min ilahin ghayruhu qad jaatkum bayyinatun min rabbikum faawfoo alkayla waalmeezana wala tabkhasoo alnnasa ashyaahum wala tufsidoo fee alardi baAAda islahiha thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum mumineena
And unto Midian ( We sent ) their brother , Shueyb . He said : O my people! Serve Allah . Ye have no other God save Him . Lo! a clear proof hath come unto you from your Lord ; so give full measure and full weight and wrong not mankind in their goods , and work not confusion in the earth after the fair ordering thereof . That will be better for you , if ye are believers .
وَلَا تَقْعُدُوا بِكُلِّ صِرَاطٍ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجًا ۚ وَاذْكُرُوا إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلًا فَكَثَّرَكُمْ ۖ وَانظُرُوا كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُفْسِدِينَ (86)
Wala taqAAudoo bikulli siratin tooAAidoona watasuddoona AAan sabeeli Allahi man amana bihi watabghoonaha AAiwajan waothkuroo ith kuntum qaleelan fakaththarakum waonthuroo kayfa kana AAaqibatu almufsideena
Lurk not on every road to threaten ( wayfarers ) , and to turn away from Allah ' s path him who believeth in Him , and to seek to make it crooked . And remember , when ye were but few , how He did multiply you . And see the nature of the consequence for the corrupters!
وَإِن كَانَ طَائِفَةٌ مِّنكُمْ آمَنُوا بِالَّذِي أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِ وَطَائِفَةٌ لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُوا فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ اللَّهُ بَيْنَنَا ۚ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ الْحَاكِمِينَ (87)
Wain kana taifatun minkum amanoo biallathee orsiltu bihi wataifatun lam yuminoo faisbiroo hatta yahkuma Allahu baynana wahuwa khayru alhakimeena
And if there is a party of you which believeth in that wherewith I have been sent , and there is a party which believeth not , then have patience until Allah judge between us . He is the best of all who deal in judgment .
۞ قَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَا شُعَيْبُ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَا أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِي مِلَّتِنَا ۚ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَارِهِينَ (88)
Qala almalao allatheena istakbaroo min qawmihi lanukhrijannaka ya shuAAaybu waallatheena amanoo maAAaka min qaryatina aw lataAAoodunna fee millatina qala awalaw kunna kariheena
The chieftains of his people , who were scornful , said : Surely we will drive thee out , O Shueyb , and those who believe with thee , from our township , unless ye return to our religion . He said : Even though we hate it?
قَدِ افْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا إِنْ عُدْنَا فِي مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجَّانَا اللَّهُ مِنْهَا ۚ وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَا أَن نَّعُودَ فِيهَا إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّنَا ۚ وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عِلْمًا ۚ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ (89)
Qadi iftarayna AAala Allahi kathiban in AAudna fee millatikum baAAda ith najjana Allahu minha wama yakoonu lana an naAAooda feeha illa an yashaa Allahu rabbuna wasiAAa rabbuna kulla shayin AAilman AAala Allahi tawakkalna rabbana iftah baynana wabayna qawmina bialhaqqi waanta khayru alfatiheena
We should have invented a lie against Allah if we returned to your religion after Allah hath rescued us from it . It is not for us to return to it unless Allah should ( so ) will . Our Lord comprehendeth all things in knowledge . In Allah do we put our trust . Our Lord! Decide with truth between us and our folk , for Thou art the best of those who make decision .
وَقَالَ الْمَلَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَوْمِهِ لَئِنِ اتَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْبًا إِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّخَاسِرُونَ (90)
Waqala almalao allatheena kafaroo min qawmihi laini ittabaAAtum shuAAayban innakum ithan lakhasiroona
But the chieftains of his people , who were disbelieving , said : If ye follow Shueyb , then truly we shall be the losers .
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُوا فِي دَارِهِمْ جَاثِمِينَ (91)
Faakhathathumu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena
So the earthquake seized them , and morning found them prostrate in their dwelling place .
الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْا فِيهَا ۚ الَّذِينَ كَذَّبُوا شُعَيْبًا كَانُوا هُمُ الْخَاسِرِينَ (92)
Allatheena kaththaboo shuAAayban kaan lam yaghnaw feeha allatheena kaththaboo shuAAayban kanoo humu alkhasireena
Those who denied Shueyb became as though they had not dwelt there . Those who denied Shueyb , they were the losers .
فَتَوَلَّىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَا قَوْمِ لَقَدْ أَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَاتِ رَبِّي وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْ ۖ فَكَيْفَ آسَىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ كَافِرِينَ (93)
Fatawalla AAanhum waqala ya qawmi laqad ablaghtukum risalati rabbee wanasahtu lakum fakayfa asa AAala qawmin kafireena
So he turned from them and said : O my people! I delivered my Lord ' s messages unto you and gave you good advice ; then how can I sorrow for a people that rejected ( truth ) ?
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا فِي قَرْيَةٍ مِّن نَّبِيٍّ إِلَّا أَخَذْنَا أَهْلَهَا بِالْبَأْسَاءِ وَالضَّرَّاءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَ (94)
Wama arsalna fee qaryatin min nabiyyin illa akhathna ahlaha bialbasai waalddarrai laAAallahum yaddarraAAoona
And We sent no prophet unto any township but We did afflict its folk with tribulation and adversity that haply they might grow humble .
ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ السَّيِّئَةِ الْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَوا وَّقَالُوا قَدْ مَسَّ آبَاءَنَا الضَّرَّاءُ وَالسَّرَّاءُ فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ (95)
Thumma baddalna makana alssayyiati alhasanata hatta AAafaw waqaloo qad massa abaana alddarrao waalssarrao faakhathnahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona
Then changed We the evil plight for good till they grew affluent and said : Tribulation and distress did touch our fathers . Then We seized them unawares , when they perceived not .
وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْقُرَىٰ آمَنُوا وَاتَّقَوْا لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَاتٍ مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبُوا فَأَخَذْنَاهُم بِمَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ (96)
Walaw anna ahla alqura amanoo waittaqaw lafatahna AAalayhim barakatin mina alssamai waalardi walakin kaththaboo faakhathnahum bima kanoo yaksiboona
And if the people of the township had believed and kept from evil , surely We should have opened for them , blessings from the sky and from the earth . But ( unto every messenger ) they gave the lie , and so We seized them on account of what they used to earn .
أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَاتًا وَهُمْ نَائِمُونَ (97)
Afaamina ahlu alqura an yatiyahum basuna bayatan wahum naimoona
Are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath , upon them as a night raid while they sleep?
أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ (98)
Awa amina ahlu alqura an yatiyahum basuna duhan wahum yalAAaboona
Or are the people of the townships then secure from the coming of Our wrath upon them in the daytime while they play?
أَفَأَمِنُوا مَكْرَ اللَّهِ ۚ فَلَا يَأْمَنُ مَكْرَ اللَّهِ إِلَّا الْقَوْمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ (99)
Afaaminoo makra Allahi fala yamanu makra Allahi illa alqawmu alkhasiroona
Are they then secure from Allah ' s scheme? None deemeth himself secure from Allah ' s scheme save folk that perish .
أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ الْأَرْضَ مِن بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَا أَن لَّوْ نَشَاءُ أَصَبْنَاهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۚ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ (100)
Awalam yahdi lillatheena yarithoona alarda min baAAdi ahliha an law nashao asabnahum bithunoobihim wanatbaAAu AAala quloobihim fahum la yasmaAAoona
Is it not an indication to those who inherit the land after its people ( who thus reaped the consequence of evil doing ) that , if We will , We can smite them for their sins and print upon their hearts so that they hear not?
