51a. Adh-Dhariyat (1 to 50)
By those that winnow with a winnowing, And those that bear the burden ( of the rain ), And those that glide with ease ( upon the sea )…
وَالذَّارِيَاتِ ذَرْوًا (1)
Waalththariyati tharwan
By those that winnow with a winnowing
فَالْحَامِلَاتِ وِقْرًا (2)
Faalhamilati wiqran
And those that bear the burden ( of the rain )
فَالْجَارِيَاتِ يُسْرًا (3)
Faaljariyati yusran
And those that glide with ease ( upon the sea )
فَالْمُقَسِّمَاتِ أَمْرًا (4)
Faalmuqassimati amran
And those who distribute ( blessings ) by command ,
إِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَصَادِقٌ (5)
Innama tooAAadoona lasadiqun
Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true ,
وَإِنَّ الدِّينَ لَوَاقِعٌ (6)
Wainna alddeena lawaqiAAun
And lo! the judgment will indeed befall .
وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ (7)
Waalssamai thati alhubuki
By the heaven full of paths ,
إِنَّكُمْ لَفِي قَوْلٍ مُّخْتَلِفٍ (8)
Innakum lafee qawlin mukhtalifin
Lo! ye , forsooth , are of various opinion ( concerning the truth ) .
يُؤْفَكُ عَنْهُ مَنْ أُفِكَ (9)
Yufaku AAanhu man ofika
He is made to turn away from it who is ( himself ) averse .
قُتِلَ الْخَرَّاصُونَ (10)
Qutila alkharrasoona
Accursed be the conjecturers
الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي غَمْرَةٍ سَاهُونَ (11)
Allatheena hum fee ghamratin sahoona
Who are careless in an abyss!
يَسْأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ (12)
Yasaloona ayyana yawmu alddeeni
They ask : When is the Day of Judgment?
يَوْمَ هُمْ عَلَى النَّارِ يُفْتَنُونَ (13)
Yawma hum AAala alnnari yuftanoona
( It is ) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire ,
ذُوقُوا فِتْنَتَكُمْ هَٰذَا الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ (14)
Thooqoo fitnatakum hatha allathee kuntum bihi tastaAAjiloona
( And it will be said unto them ) : Taste your torment ( which ye inflicted ) . This is what ye sought to hasten .
إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ (15)
Inna almuttaqeena fee jannatin waAAuyoonin
Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings .
آخِذِينَ مَا آتَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَٰلِكَ مُحْسِنِينَ (16)
Akhitheena ma atahum rabbuhum innahum kanoo qabla thalika muhsineena
Taking that which their Lord giveth them ; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good ;
كَانُوا قَلِيلًا مِّنَ اللَّيْلِ مَا يَهْجَعُونَ (17)
Kanoo qaleelan mina allayli ma yahjaAAoona
They used to sleep but tittle of the night ,
وَبِالْأَسْحَارِ هُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ (18)
Wabialashari hum yastaghfiroona
And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness ,
وَفِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ حَقٌّ لِّلسَّائِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِ (19)
Wafee amwalihim haqqun lilssaili waalmahroomi
And in their wealth the beggar the outcast had due share .
وَفِي الْأَرْضِ آيَاتٌ لِّلْمُوقِنِينَ (20)
Wafee alardi ayatun lilmooqineena
And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure ,
وَفِي أَنفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ (21)
Wafee anfusikum afala tubsiroona
And ( also ) in yourselves . Can ye then not see?
وَفِي السَّمَاءِ رِزْقُكُمْ وَمَا تُوعَدُونَ (22)
Wafee alssamai rizqukum wama tooAAadoona
And in the heaven is your providence and that which ye are promised ;
فَوَرَبِّ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ مِّثْلَ مَا أَنَّكُمْ تَنطِقُونَ (23)
Fawarabbi alssamai waalardi innahu lahaqqun mithla ma annakum tantiqoona
And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth , it is the truth , even as ( it is true ) that ye speak .
هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ (24)
Hal ataka hadeethu dayfi ibraheema almukrameena
Hath the story of Abraham ' s honored guests reached thee ( O Muhammad ) ?
إِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَامًا ۖ قَالَ سَلَامٌ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ (25)
Ith dakhaloo AAalayhi faqaloo salaman qala salamun qawmun munkaroona
When they came in unto him and said : Peace! he answered , Peace! ( and thought ) : Folk unknown ( to me ) .
فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ فَجَاءَ بِعِجْلٍ سَمِينٍ (26)
Faragha ila ahlihi fajaa biAAijlin sameenin
Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf ;
فَقَرَّبَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ (27)
Faqarrabahu ilayhim qala ala takuloona
And he set it before them , saying : Will ye not eat?
فَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةً ۖ قَالُوا لَا تَخَفْ ۖ وَبَشَّرُوهُ بِغُلَامٍ عَلِيمٍ (28)
Faawjasa minhum kheefatan qaloo la takhaf wabashsharoohu bighulamin AAaleemin
Then he conceived a fear of them . They said : Fear not! and gave him tidings of ( the birth of ) a wise son .
فَأَقْبَلَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ فِي صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ (29)
Faaqbalati imraatuhu fee sarratin fasakkat wajhaha waqalat AAajoozun AAaqeemun
Then his wife came forward , making moan , and smote her face , and cried : A barren old woman!
قَالُوا كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ ۖ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْحَكِيمُ الْعَلِيمُ (30)
Qaloo kathaliki qala rabbuki innahu huwa alhakeemu alAAaleemu
They said : Even so saith thy Lord . Lo! He is the Wise , the Knower .
۞ قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ أَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ (31)
Qala fama khatbukum ayyuha almursaloona
( Abraham ) said : And ( afterward ) what is your errand , O ye sent ( from Allah ) ?
قَالُوا إِنَّا أُرْسِلْنَا إِلَىٰ قَوْمٍ مُّجْرِمِينَ (32)
Qaloo inna orsilna ila qawmin mujrimeena
They said : Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk ,
لِنُرْسِلَ عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِّن طِينٍ (33)
Linursila AAalayhim hijaratan min teenin
That we may send upon them stones of clay ,
مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ لِلْمُسْرِفِينَ (34)
Musawwamatan AAinda rabbika lilmusrifeena
Marked by thy Lord for ( the destruction of ) the wanton .
فَأَخْرَجْنَا مَن كَانَ فِيهَا مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (35)
Faakhrajna man kana feeha mina almumineena
Thee We brought forth such believers as were there .
فَمَا وَجَدْنَا فِيهَا غَيْرَ بَيْتٍ مِّنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ (36)
Fama wajadna feeha ghayra baytin mina almuslimeena
But We found there but one house of those surrendered ( to Allah ) .
وَتَرَكْنَا فِيهَا آيَةً لِّلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ (37)
Watarakna feeha ayatan lillatheena yakhafoona alAAathaba alaleema
And We left behind therein a portent for those who fear a painful doom .
وَفِي مُوسَىٰ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ (38)
Wafee moosa ith arsalnahu ila firAAawna bisultanin mubeenin
And in Moses ( too , there is a portent ) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant ,
فَتَوَلَّىٰ بِرُكْنِهِ وَقَالَ سَاحِرٌ أَوْ مَجْنُونٌ (39)
Fatawalla biruknihi waqala sahirun aw majnoonun
But he withdrew ( confiding ) in his might , and said : A wizard or a madman .
فَأَخَذْنَاهُ وَجُنُودَهُ فَنَبَذْنَاهُمْ فِي الْيَمِّ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ (40)
Faakhathnahu wajunoodahu fanabathnahum fee alyammi wahuwa muleemun
So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea , for he was reprobate
وَفِي عَادٍ إِذْ أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الرِّيحَ الْعَقِيمَ (41)
Wafee AAadin ith arsalna AAalayhimu alrreeha alAAaqeema
And in ( the tribe of ) Aad ( there is a portent ) when We sent the fatal wind against them .
مَا تَذَرُ مِن شَيْءٍ أَتَتْ عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا جَعَلَتْهُ كَالرَّمِيمِ (42)
Ma tatharu min shayin atat AAalayhi illa jaAAalathu kaalrrameemi
It spared naught that it reached , but made it ( all ) as dust .
وَفِي ثَمُودَ إِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمْ تَمَتَّعُوا حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ (43)
Wafee thamooda ith qeela lahum tamattaAAoo hatta heenin
And in ( the tribe of ) Thamud ( there is a portent ) when it was told them : Take your ease awhile .
فَعَتَوْا عَنْ أَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّاعِقَةُ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ (44)
FaAAataw AAan amri rabbihim faakhathathumu alssaAAiqatu wahum yanthuroona
But they rebelled against their Lord ' s decree , and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed ;
فَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا مِن قِيَامٍ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنتَصِرِينَ (45)
Fama istataAAoo min qiyamin wama kanoo muntasireena
And they were unable to rise up , nor could they help themselves .
وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَوْمًا فَاسِقِينَ (46)
Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo qawman fasiqeena
And the folk of Noah aforetime . Lo! they were licentious folk .
وَالسَّمَاءَ بَنَيْنَاهَا بِأَيْدٍ وَإِنَّا لَمُوسِعُونَ (47)
Waalssamaa banaynaha biaydin wainna lamoosiAAoona
We have built the heaven with might , and We it is who make the vast extent ( thereof ) .
وَالْأَرْضَ فَرَشْنَاهَا فَنِعْمَ الْمَاهِدُونَ (48)
Waalarda farashnaha faniAAma almahidoona
And the earth have We laid out , how gracious was the Spreader ( thereof ) !
وَمِن كُلِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقْنَا زَوْجَيْنِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ (49)
Wamin kulli shayin khalaqna zawjayni laAAallakum tathakkaroona
And all things We have created by pairs , that haply ye may reflect .
فَفِرُّوا إِلَى اللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّي لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ (50)
Fafirroo ila Allahi innee lakum minhu natheerun mubeenun
Therefor flee unto Allah ; lo! I am a plain warner unto you from Him
