38b. Sad (51 to 88)
Wherein , reclining , they call for plenteous fruit and cool
drink ( that is ) therein …
مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَشَرَابٍ (51)
Muttakieena feeha yadAAoona feeha bifakihatin katheeratin washarabin
Wherein , reclining , they call for plenteous fruit and cool drink ( that is ) therein .
۞ وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ أَتْرَابٌ (52)
WaAAindahum qasiratu alttarfi atrabun
And with them are those of modest gaze , companions .
هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِيَوْمِ الْحِسَابِ (53)
Hatha ma tooAAadoona liyawmi alhisabi
This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning .
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَرِزْقُنَا مَا لَهُ مِن نَّفَادٍ (54)
Inna hatha larizquna ma lahu min nafadin
Lo! this in truth is Our provision , which will never waste away .
هَٰذَا ۚ وَإِنَّ لِلطَّاغِينَ لَشَرَّ مَآبٍ (55)
Hatha wainna lilttagheena lasharra maabin
This ( is for the righteous ) . And lo! for the transgressors there will be an evil journey ' s end ,
جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَا فَبِئْسَ الْمِهَادُ (56)
Jahannama yaslawnaha fabisa almihadu
Hell , where they will burn , an evil resting place .
هَٰذَا فَلْيَذُوقُوهُ حَمِيمٌ وَغَسَّاقٌ (57)
Hatha falyathooqoohu hameemun waghassaqun
Here is a boiling and an ice cold draught , so let them taste it ,
وَآخَرُ مِن شَكْلِهِ أَزْوَاجٌ (58)
Waakharu min shaklihi azwajun
And other ( torment ) of the kind in pairs ( the two extremes ) !
هَٰذَا فَوْجٌ مُّقْتَحِمٌ مَّعَكُمْ ۖ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِهِمْ ۚ إِنَّهُمْ صَالُو النَّارِ (59)
Hatha fawjun muqtahimun maAAakum la marhaban bihim innahum saloo alnnari
Here is an army rushing blindly with you . ( Those who are already in the fire say ) : No word of welcome for them . Lo! they will roast at the Fire .
قَالُوا بَلْ أَنتُمْ لَا مَرْحَبًا بِكُمْ ۖ أَنتُمْ قَدَّمْتُمُوهُ لَنَا ۖ فَبِئْسَ الْقَرَارُ (60)
Qaloo bal antum la marhaban bikum antum qaddamtumoohu lana fabisa alqararu
They say : Nay , but you ( misleaders ) , for you there is no word of welcome . Ye prepared this for us ( by your misleading ) . Now hapless is the plight .
قَالُوا رَبَّنَا مَن قَدَّمَ لَنَا هَٰذَا فَزِدْهُ عَذَابًا ضِعْفًا فِي النَّارِ (61)
Qaloo rabbana man qaddama lana hatha fazidhu AAathaban diAAfan fee alnnari
They say : Our Lord! Whoever did prepare this for Us , oh , give him double portion of the Fire!
وَقَالُوا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ الْأَشْرَارِ (62)
Waqaloo ma lana la nara rijalan kunna naAAudduhum mina alashrari
And they say : What aileth us that we behold not men whom we were wont to count among the wicked?
أَتَّخَذْنَاهُمْ سِخْرِيًّا أَمْ زَاغَتْ عَنْهُمُ الْأَبْصَارُ (63)
Attakhathnahum sikhriyyan am zaghat AAanhumu alabsaru
Did we take them ( wrongly ) for a laughing stock , or have our eyes missed them?
إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَحَقٌّ تَخَاصُمُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ (64)
Inna thalika lahaqqun takhasumu ahli alnnari
Lo! that is very truth : the wrangling of the dwellers in the Fire .
قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا مُنذِرٌ ۖ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَٰهٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ (65)
Qul innama ana munthirun wama min ilahin illa Allahu alwahidu alqahharu
Say ( unto them , O Muhammad ) : I am only a warner , and there is no God save Allah , the One , the Absolute ,
رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ (66)
Rabbu alssamawati waalardi wama baynahuma alAAazeezu alghaffaru
Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them , the Mighty , the Pardoning .
قُلْ هُوَ نَبَأٌ عَظِيمٌ (67)
Qul huwa nabaon AAatheemun
Say : It is tremendous tidings
أَنتُمْ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضُونَ (68)
Antum AAanhu muAAridoona
Whence ye turn away!
مَا كَانَ لِيَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ بِالْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ إِذْ يَخْتَصِمُونَ (69)
Ma kana liya min AAilmin bialmalai alaAAla ith yakhtasimoona
I had no knowledge of the Highest Chiefs when they disputed ;
إِن يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ إِلَّا أَنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ (70)
In yooha ilayya illa annama ana natheerun mubeenun
It is revealed unto me only that I may be a plain warner .
إِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَائِكَةِ إِنِّي خَالِقٌ بَشَرًا مِّن طِينٍ (71)
Ith qala rabbuka lilmalaikati innee khaliqun basharan min teenin
When thy Lord said unto the angels : lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire ,
فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدِينَ (72)
Faitha sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min roohee faqaAAoo lahu sajideena
And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit , then fall down before him prostrate ,
فَسَجَدَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ أَجْمَعُونَ (73)
Fasajada almalaikatu kulluhum ajmaAAoona
The angels fell down prostrate , every one .
إِلَّا إِبْلِيسَ اسْتَكْبَرَ وَكَانَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ (74)
Illa ibleesa istakbara wakana mina alkafireena
Saving Iblis , he was scornful and became one of the disbelievers .
قَالَ يَا إِبْلِيسُ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَن تَسْجُدَ لِمَا خَلَقْتُ بِيَدَيَّ ۖ أَسْتَكْبَرْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ الْعَالِينَ (75)
Qala ya ibleesu ma manaAAaka an tasjuda lima khalaqtu biyadayya astakbarta am kunta mina alAAaleena
He said : O Iblis! What hindereth thee from falling prostrate before that which I have created with both My hands? Art thou too proud or art thou of the high
قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ خَلَقْتَنِي مِن نَّارٍ وَخَلَقْتَهُ مِن طِينٍ (76)
Qala ana khayrun minhu khalaqtanee min narin wakhalaqtahu min teenin
He said : I am better than him . Thou createdst me off fire , whilst him Thou didst create of clay .
قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٌ (77)
Qala faokhruj minha fainnaka rajeemun
He said : Go forth from hence , for lo! thou art outcast ,
وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ لَعْنَتِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ (78)
Wainna AAalayka laAAnatee ila yawmi alddeeni
And lo! My curse is on thee till the Day of Judgment .
قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ (79)
Qala rabbi faanthirnee ila yawmi yubAAathoona
He said : My Lord! Reprieve me till the day when they are raised .
قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ (80)
Qala fainnaka mina almunthareena
He said : Lo! thou art of those reprieved
إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ (81)
Ila yawmi alwaqti almaAAloomi
Until the day of the time appointed .
قَالَ فَبِعِزَّتِكَ لَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (82)
Qala fabiAAizzatika laoghwiyannahum ajmaAAeena
He said : Then , by Thy might , I surely will beguile them every one ,
إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصِينَ (83)
Illa AAibadaka minhumu almukhlaseena
Save Thy single minded slaves among them .
قَالَ فَالْحَقُّ وَالْحَقَّ أَقُولُ (84)
Qala faalhaqqu waalhaqqa aqoolu
He said : The Truth is , and the Truth I speak ,
لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكَ وَمِمَّن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ (85)
Laamlaanna jahannama minka wamimman tabiAAaka minhum ajmaAAeena
That I shall fill hell with thee and with such of them as follow thee , together .
قُلْ مَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ وَمَا أَنَا مِنَ الْمُتَكَلِّفِينَ (86)
Qul ma asalukum AAalayhi min ajrin wama ana mina almutakallifeena
Say ( O Muhammad , unto mankind ) : I ask of you no fee for this , and I am no impostor .
إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌ لِّلْعَالَمِينَ (87)
In huwa illa thikrun lilAAalameena
Lo! it is naught else than a reminder for all peoples
وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ نَبَأَهُ بَعْدَ حِينٍ (88)
WalataAAlamunna nabaahu baAAda heenin
And ye will come in time to know the truth thereof .
