And ( the tribe of ) Thamud He spared not ;, And the folk of Noah aforetime , lo! they were more , And Al Mutafikah He destroyed, So that there covered them that which did cover …

53.51

وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ (51)

Wathamooda fama abqa

And ( the tribe of ) Thamud He spared not ;

53.52

وَقَوْمَ نُوحٍ مِّن قَبْلُ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا هُمْ أَظْلَمَ وَأَطْغَىٰ (52)

Waqawma noohin min qablu innahum kanoo hum athlama waatgha

And the folk of Noah aforetime , lo! they were more 
unjust and more rebellious ;

53.53

وَالْمُؤْتَفِكَةَ أَهْوَىٰ (53)

Waalmutafikata ahwa

And Al Mutafikah He destroyed

53.54

فَغَشَّاهَا مَا غَشَّىٰ (54)

Faghashshaha ma ghashsha

So that there covered them that which did cover .

53.55

فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكَ تَتَمَارَىٰ (55)

Fabiayyi alai rabbika tatamara

Concerning which then , of the bounties of thy Lord , 
canst thou dispute?

53.56

هَٰذَا نَذِيرٌ مِّنَ النُّذُرِ الْأُولَىٰ (56)

Hatha natheerun mina alnnuthuri aloola

This is a warner of the warners of old .

53.57

أَزِفَتِ الْآزِفَةُ (57)

Azifati alazifatu

The threatened Hour is nigh .

53.58

لَيْسَ لَهَا مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ كَاشِفَةٌ (58)

Laysa laha min dooni Allahi kashifatun

None beside Allah can disclose it .

53.59

أَفَمِنْ هَٰذَا الْحَدِيثِ تَعْجَبُونَ (59)

Afamin hatha alhadeethi taAAjaboona

Marvel ye then at this statement ,

53.60

وَتَضْحَكُونَ وَلَا تَبْكُونَ (60)

Watadhakoona wala tabkoona

And laugh and not weep ,

53.61

وَأَنتُمْ سَامِدُونَ (61)

Waantum samidoona

While ye amuse yourselves?

53.62

فَاسْجُدُوا لِلَّهِ وَاعْبُدُوا ۩ (62)

Faosjudoo lillahi waoAAbudoo

Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him
