एक किसान ने एक नेवला पाल रखा था| नेवला बहुत चतुर और स्वामिभक्त था| एक दिन किसान कहीं गया था| किसान की स्त्री ने अपने छोटे बच्चे को दूध पिलाकर सुला दिया और नेवले को छोड़कर वह घड़ा और रस्सी लेकर कुएँ पर पानी भरने चली गयी|

बुद्धिमान राजा
कसी के पास धन बहुत है तो यह कोई विशेष भगवत्कृपा की बात नहीं है| ये धन आदि वस्तुएँ तो पापी को भी मिल जाती हैं-‘सुत दारा अरु लक्ष्मी पापी के भी होय|’ इनके मिलने में कोई विलक्षण बात नहीं है|

“Brahmana said, ‘The wheel of life moves on. It has the understanding forits strength; the mind for the pole (on which it rests); the group ofsenses for its bonds, the (five) great elements for its nave, and homefor its circumference.
