अविनाशं संजय पाण्डवानाम; इच्छाम्य अहं भूतिम एषां परियं च
तथा राज्ञॊ धृतराष्ट्रस्य सूत; सदाशंसे बहुपुत्रस्य वृद्धिम

दुकानदार पर वह अच्छा प्रभाव नहीं छोड़ पाया
एक दुकानदार को नौकर की सख्त जरूरत थी। उसने अपने मिलने-जुलने वालों से कह रखा था कि कोई पढ़ा-लिखा, ईमानदार आदमी मिल जाए तो बताना, क्योंकि मैं अकेला हूं। जब कभी बाहर सामान लेने जाता हूं या किसी अन्य काम से यहां-वहां जाता हूं तो मुझे दुकान बंद ही करनी पड़ती है। कहते हैं ग्राहक और मौत का क्या ठिकाना? कब आए और लौट जाए।

Vaishampayana said: “While the Vrishnis and the Andhakas were thusendeavouring (to avoid the impending calamity), the embodied form of Time(death) every day wandered about their houses.

“Saunaka said, ‘O Sauti, relate once more in detail this history of thelearned and virtuous Astika. Our curiosity for hearing it is great. Oamiable one, thou speakest sweetly, with proper accent and emphasis; andwe are well-pleased with thy speech. Thou speakest even as thy father.Thy sire was ever ready to please us. Tell us now the story as thy fatherhad related it.’
राजसूय यज्ञ
इंद्रप्रस्थ में अब राजसूय यज्ञ की तैयारियाँ प्रारम्भ हो गई थी| बड़ी संख्या में राजा और राजकुमारों का आगमन हुआ| नगरी में सब ओर उत्साह की लहर थी| धार्मिक अनुष्ठानों और मंत्रोच्चारण के साथ युधिष्ठिर को सम्राट घोषित किया गया|
