याते तरिगर्तं मत्स्ये तु पशूंस तान सवान परीप्सति
दुर्यॊधनः सहामात्यॊ विराटम उपयाद अथ
राक्षस के रूप में क्यों जन्मा रावण? – 2
भगवान विष्णु द्वारा अपने भाई हिरण्याक्ष का वध करनेकी वजह से हिरण्यकशिपु विष्णु विरोधी था और अपने विष्णुभक्त पुत्र प्रह्लाद को मरवाने के लिए भी उसने कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी थी। फिर भगवान विष्णु ने नृसिंह अवतार धारण कर हिरण्यकशिपु का वध किया था। खंभे से नृसिंह भगवान का प्रकट होना ईश्वर की शाश्वत, सर्वव्यापी उपस्थिति का ही प्रमाण है।

Janamejaya said, “Thou hast described the merits of the Sarasvati, O bestof Brahmanas! It behoveth thee, O regenerate one, to describe to me theinvestiture of Kumara (by the gods).
