रॊचमानॊ महाराज पाण्डवानां महारथः
यॊत्स्यते ऽमरवत संख्ये परसैन्येषु भारत
“Duryodhana said, ‘The son of Pritha are all as other men, and are, infact, of earthly birth as other men. Why then dost thou think that theyare sure to win victory?
“Vaisampayana said, ‘Then all the citizens (of Varanavata) on hearingthat the son of Pandu had come, were filled with joy at the tidings,speedily came out of Varanavata, in vehicles of various kinds numberingby thousands, taking with them every auspicious article as directed bythe Sastras, for receiving those foremost of men. And the people of Varanavata, approaching the sons of Kunti blessed them by uttering theJaya and stood surrounding them.
Janamejaya said, “How long did my great grandsires, the highsouled sonsof Pandu of matchless prowess, dwell in the Gandhamadana mountain? Andwhat did those exceedingly powerful ones, gifted with manliness, do?
एक गाँव में एक किसान रहता था| उसका नाम था शेरसिंह| शेरसिंह शेर-जैसा भयंकर और अभिमानी था| वह थोड़ी सी बात पर बिगड़कर लड़ाई कर लेता था| गाँव के लोगों स सीधे मुँह बात नहीं करता था| न तो वह किसी के घर जाता था और न रास्ते में मिलने पर किसी को प्रणाम करता था| गाँव के किसान भी उसे अहंकारी समझकर उससे नहीं बोलते थे|
“Vaisampayana said, ‘Thus addressed, O king, (by his sister and others),the slayer of Kesin, exceedingly afflicted by grief, answered,–‘So beit!’–These words were uttered with sufficient loudness and theygladdened all the inmates of the inner apartments of the palace.
बादशाह अकबर ने बीरबल से पूछा-“बीरबल, हमारे नगर में कितने अंधे होंगे?”
