Janamejaya said, “Having felt great affliction on account of theabduction of their wife and having rescued Krishna thereafter, what didthe Pandavas next do?”

“Sanjaya said, ‘Against Yuyutsu who was employed in routing the vast armyof thy son, Uluka proceeded with speed saying “Wait, Wait.”
Bhimasena said, “Thy understanding, O king, has become blind to thetruth, like that of a foolish and unintelligent reciter of the Veda inconsequence of his repeated recitation of those scriptures.
“Bhrigu said, ‘Brahman first created a few Brahmanas who came to becalled Prajapatis (lords of creation).
“Arjuna said, ‘Of those worshippers who, constantly devoted, adore thee,and those who (meditate) on thee as the Immutable and Unmanifest, who arebest acquainted with devotion.’
Vaisampayana said, “And when the king of the celestials presented himselfin the guise of a Brahmana, beholding him, Kama said, ‘Welcome!’
Vaisampayana said,–“As soon as Vidura endued with great foresight cameunto him king Dhritarashtra, the son of Amvika, timidly asked hisbrother,–‘How doth Yudhishthira, the son of Dharma, proceed along?
“Sanjaya said, ‘While Nakula was employed in destroying and routing theKaurava divisions in battle with great force, Vikartana’s son Karna,filled with rage, checked him, O king.
“Arjuna said, ‘In this connection an old history is cited, viz., thediscourse between certain ascetics and Sakra, O bull of Bharata’s race!
“Bharadwaja said, ‘By what acts does one become a Brahmana? By what, aKshatriya? O best of regenerate ones, by what acts again does one becomea Vaisya or a Sudra? Tell me this, O foremost of speakers.’
