Vaisampayana said,–that chastiser of all foes then vanquished kingSrenimat of the country of Kumara, and then Vrihadvala, the king ofKosala. Then the foremost of the sons of Pandu, by performing featsexcelling in fierceness, defeated the virtuous and mighty kingDirghayaghna of Ayodhya.
महाराज रन्तिदेव मनु के वंश में उत्पन्न हुए थे, इनके पिता का नाम सुकृत था| महाराज रन्तिदेव में मानवता कूट-कूट कर भरी हुई थी| ये प्राणीमात्र में भगवान् को देखा करते थे|
“Dhritarashtra said, ‘In that awful and fathomless encounter of thePandavas and the Srinjayas with the warriors of my army, when Dhananjaya,O sire, proceeded for battle, how, indeed, did the fight occur?’
किसी जंगल में चंडल नाम का श्रृंगाल रहता था| एक बार भूख के कारण एक नगर में घुस गया| बस फिर क्या था नगर के कुत्ते उसे देखते ही भौंकने लगे| उसके पीछे-पीछे थे वह बेचारा आगे-आगे भाग रहा था|
“Yudhishthira said, ‘All men, O king, in this world, are seen to attachthemselves to women, overcome by the illusion that is created by thedivine Being.

पृथिव्यां यानि भूतानि जङ्गमानि धरुवाणि च
तान्य एवाग्रे परलीयन्ते भूमित्वम उपयान्ति च
एक राजा अपने दरबारियों से पौराणिक आख्यान सुना करता था। एक मंत्री ने राजा को इंद्र और उनके स्वर्ग की कथा सुनाई। राजा ने कहा- मंत्रीजी! स्वर्ग की बात मुझे तो गप लगती है। मंत्री बोला- महाराज! स्वर्ग तो वास्तव में होता है।
