अध्याय 65
1 बृहदश्व उवाच
हृतराज्ये नले भीमः सभार्ये परेष्यतां गते
दविजान परस्थापयाम आस नलदर्शनकाङ्क्षया

हृतराज्ये नले भीमः सभार्ये परेष्यतां गते
दविजान परस्थापयाम आस नलदर्शनकाङ्क्षया
“Yudhishthira said, “Tell me of that, O grandsire, which is the root ofall duties, which is the root of kinsmen, of home, of the Pitris and ofguests. I think this should be regarded as the foremost of all duties,(viz., the marriage of one’s daughter). Tell me, however, O king, uponwhat sort of a person should one bestow one’s daughter?’

एषा पूर्वतरा वृत्तिर बराह्मणस्य विधीयते
जञानवान एव कर्माणि कुर्वन सर्वत्र सिध्यति
गंगा नदी के तट पर भगवान का एक परम भक्त नित्य पूजा-पाठ व ध्यान करता था। वह प्रात:काल आता, स्नान करता और आसन लगाकर बैठ जाता। भगवान की भक्ति में जो रमता तो घंटों बिता देता। उसकी यह विशेषता थी कि पूजा या ध्यान के समय कैसी भी विघ्न-बाधाएं आतीं, किंतु वह अपने आसन से टस से मस नहीं होता।

ऊर्ध्वमूलम अधःशाखम अश्वत्थं पराहुर अव्ययम
